Engine

First of all, we’ll see whats is in the heart of both these compact SUVs. The Hyundai Venue gets the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that is able to produce around 118.35 bhp max power and 171 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the Mahindra XUV 300 1.2-litre turbo petrol produces around 110 bhp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The XUV 300 gets 6-speed manual gearbox whereas the Venue gets 6-speed manual as well as 7-speed automatic DCT gearbox.

It seems that XUV 300 is better at low speed, but the clutch, on the other hand, is very light in Venue. The Mahindra XUV 300 is really good at the crawling speed so you will have lots of fun even in the city roads. Hyundai Venue, however, has a very nice and nimble performance that you will expect from the Hyundai car. The Mahindra XUV 300 has slightly more mileage than the Hyundai Venue.

Interior and Features

The cabin of the Mahindra XUV 300 gets the more beige treatment that makes it feel more spacious and airy. The XUV 300 also gets the more wide space among both and can easily accommodate the third person at the rear seats. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Venue gets all-black dash and plush seats that looks sportier among both. The ergonomics and the driving position seems better in the Venue so that you can travel more without having much of a pain.

XUV 300

The seats on the XUV 300 are slightly more premium than the Venue. The boot space on the Venue is bigger than XUV 300 by almost 90 litres, but you do get better leg space in the XUV 300. You have to compromise for the one. Both the compact SUVs are equipped with loads of convenience features such as cruise control, touch screen infotainment, automatic headlamp, sunroof, etc. The safety features on the XUV 300 are better as the vehicle also gets 5-star rating in the GNCAP.

Exterior Design

The reason the exterior design was kept in the last is that it is quite subjective for the matter. Both the vehicles get LED DRLs, ORVMs indicators, trunk light, roof rails and much more. The XUV 300 gets more wide stance so it appears quite big among them, while the Venue is a very quirky looking compact SUV. Both these vehicles have the option of the dual-tone colour. People who love the Mahindra lineup will usually love the design of the XUV 300, while the Venue is more likeable for the sophisticated person.

Price

The pricing we are considering is only about the turbo-petrol variants. The pricing of the XUV 300 is at Rs 8.30 – 11.99 lakhs(ex-showroom). While the Venue costs around Rs 8.49 – 11.51 lakhs(ex-showroom). Looking at price XUV 300 base variant is cheaper than the Venue while the top is expensive.
