Datsun made the comeback back in 2013 but certainly did not make a big impact in the Indian market. The Datsun – a Japanese brand is a subsidiary company owned by Nissan. The Datsun brand first was known for its sports touring and lifestyle vehicles.

But due to some circumstance, it did not sustain for a longer time and was shut down for a while. While re-launching the brand, it was not same as before and was more towards affordable cars.

Datsun Redi-GO is a small hatchback offering from the brand. It competes against other small vehicles such as Maruti S-presso, Renault Kwid and also the upcoming Tata HBX. Looking at the competition it wasn’t really a good offering among them. So Datsun will be upgrading the Redi-GO with having lots of cosmetic and interior tweaks. The hatchback will get some upmarket features to raise the standard of the brand. So let’s get some idea of the upcoming Datsun Redi-GO BS6 and what can we expect from it.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior design is expected with some tweaks to ongoing design language. The new design will be made it look bigger than before. So it is expected with a limited number of curve line and a somewhat wider grille. It will also have different colour schemes to make a better offering.

The interior is expected to have undergone a complete transition. The interior design will be more plush and subtle than before.

Overall plastic quality is expected to be gone up by a significant amount. The hatchback will get features such as touch screen infotainment system, all power windows, AC, etc. The safety net will include the dual-airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD as standard feature across variants.

Engine

The Datsun Redi-GO BS6 will have the option of 0.8-litre petrol and 1.0-litre petrol. The 0.8-litre petrol engine is expected to produce around 54 bhp of max power and 72 Nm peak torque. While the 1.0-litre petrol engine will be able to produce around 67 bhp of max power and 91 Nm of peak torque. The new engine will be BS6 compliant so it will have a lesser carbon footprint on the environment.

Price

Now to compete against the big brands, Datsun will be offering very attractive pricing. It is expected to have similar pricing as the ongoing models. For reference, the current pricing of the 0.

8-litre is at Rs 2.80 – 3.62 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the 1.0-litre costs at Rs 3.90 – 4.37 lakhs (ex-showroom).
