The test mule of the BS6 KUV100 NXT has been spotted ahead of the launch. The test vehicle had the CNG badging on the rear windshield as well. So we could expect it has a CNG variant as well. The test vehicle spotted had the steel rims and non-body coloured door handles, so it will be safe to assume that the CNG could be offered only in the base variant. Let’s see what all modifications are expected in the upcoming BS6 KUV100 NXT.

Mahindra KUV100 is quite unsuccessful product despite being offered with the SUV stance and 6-seat configuration. It barely sells an average of over 100 units per month. But the manufacturer still has the hope regarding the future of KUV100. The BS6 version of the ongoing NXT models will be most likely to go on sale next month.

Powertrain

The powertrain for the BS6 avatar is expected with the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit. The engine produces around 82 bhp of max power and 115 Nm of peak torque. We are presuming that there will be no diesel engine option due to stricter BS6 norms and high manufacturing cost of diesel. Recently Mahindra showcased the new engine lineup at the Auto Expo 2020. It consisted of 1.2-litre turbo petrol. So we are hoping the same engine to be offered in the KUV100 NXT at least as an option.

Features and Interior

The BS6 KUV100 NXT is expected with some additional features so that it matches the current competition. The overall interior will be similar to the ongoing KUV 100 NXT. However, we hope new BS6 KUV100 NXT to get some beige treatments so that it feels more airy and spacious. The infotainment screen will be updated with some new features. The small SUV will be retaining the safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors.

Exterior

The exterior design will be retained from the current model. The design is kind of love it or hate it design. From the front, it gets typical Mahindra like stance and looks pretty big compared to the rivals. It gets the LED DRLs, chrome treated grilles, and many other elements. The side profile is where it is kind of controversial. The side profile seems like it is a compressed version of the bigger SUV, which is quite subjective and might not like some of them.

Price

Now to really get some attention of the buyers, Mahindra has to price it very attractively. We are expecting that the BS6 KUV100 NXT will hit some price drop at least on the top variants. For reference, the current pricing of KUV100 petrol variants is Rs 4.96 – 7.05 lakhs (ex-showroom). The vehicle will be competing against the Maruti S-presso, Renault Kwid and upcoming Tata HBX.

Mahindra recently unveiled the EV version of the KUV100 named as eKUV 100. It is the most affordable electric car you can buy today. You can watch our walkaround video for the eKUV 100 below.
