Indian market is fastly shifting towards SUVs and MPVs. The reason for this is due to tremendous interior space and road presence of these vehicles. Considering the requirements, Kia, a Korean brand recently launched luxury MPV the Carnival. The MPV immediately hit the market as soon as it was launched. Exterior Design

The Kia Carnival is over five meters long, which makes it much longer than the Toyota Innova. So it looks very massive when compared with Innova. From the front, the MPV gets Kia’s signature tiger-nose grille. The LED headlamps are wrap around the grille that gives it a more wide stance. The chrome treatment has been done on the grille outline as well as foglamp borders.

The Carnivals get 18-inch wheels, where you can have two alloy options, one of them is full of chrome. From the rear, it gets pretty upright tailgate with a chrome strip that runs across the width. Taillamps are pretty basic with LEDs but suit the character and don’t really mess up the design. Overall, the design looks well thought of, which is generally the case in every Kia vehicle.

Interior and features

The MPV packs many upmarket and competitive features that were missing in the segment. It gets single touch tail-gate opener, making it really easy while putting the luggage with both hands. Even the all three rows are up, you still get 540-litre boot space and can be expanded further up to 2759-litres by folding the seats.

Please note that the blog will be considering the top-trim Limousine model, so the features may vary on the other trims. The limousine trim is equipped with 7-seat configuration, however, you can also opt for the 8-seater as well as 9-seater variant. The second-row doors open and close with a touch of a button and then you can access to rear sets by adjusting the second-row seats. The third row also gets a recliner seat which is not seen usually in the segment. The MPV gets sunblinds in the third row as well.

The second row is where you will find a real sense of relief. You get all the much-needed features such as AC vents, climate control, charging ports, cup-holders, infotainment screen. The seats too have a range of movements with leg support as well. The MPV gets dual sunroof that enhances the airiness and spaciousness in the vehicle.

Other features premium features include features such as smart air purifier, UVO smart connectivity, Nappa leather seats and much more. The safety net includes six-airbags, Electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors and hill start assist control.

Engine

The Kia Carnival comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that churns about 195 bhp of max power and 440 Nm of peak torque. The engine is a BS6 compliant unit that means it puts out a lesser carbon footprint on the environment. The engine is mated with the 8-speed automatic transmission. Considering the power, it is the most powerful MPV vehicle in the price band.

Price

The base price for the Kia Carnival stands at Rs 24.95 lakhs(ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 33.95 lakhs(ex-showroom). It competes against Toyota Innova, Mahindra Marazzo and upcoming MG MPV.
