After joining of TVS and Bajaj into the EV league, Hero is also preparing to contribute in the EV market. It is to be noted that Hero Electric is a completely different brand. The Hero MotoCorp is planning to introduce a series of the lineup in their EV portfolio. The first electric scooter they will be representing will be Hero’s beloved Maestro.

Hero is currently the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the entire world. So the electric scooter launch from such a big manufacturer is expected with a good proposition in terms of pricing and practicality. The Hero electric Maestro or eMaestro will not be a performance-oriented or feature-oriented scooter but will be focused on the practicality and affordability. It will surely have good range and decent performance among others but will make a unique proposition.

Powertrain

The eMaestro is expected with IP67-rated Lithium-ion battery and around 3-3.5 KW motor. The range is expected to be between 100 km to 120 km in a single charge. The battery is expected with a 3-years warranty or 50,000 km warranty. It might not have a DC fast charging option but will have company fitted AC home charger. It should take around 5 hours time to charge from 0 to 100 percent.

The scooter will have features such as smart connectivity, reverse mode, side stand power shut, etc. The features might not be as premium as the TVS iQube but will be better than other small manufacturers electric scooters.

Other Hero EVs

As India is moving slowly towards the EVs, Hero eMaestro will boost the EV market to some extent. After the Maestro, Hero will bring the other scooters into EV avatar, they might share similar powertrains as well. Currently, Hero has four scooters in their lineup, it includes Pleasure +, Duet and Destini.

Currently, TVS and Bajaj are attracting the Indian customer by offering premium features, Hero’s approach will surely make it stand out. As far as the cost of EV scooter is considered the initial cost is where it gets overshadowed by ICE scooters. If Hero could really inch towards the gap between the prices of ICE and EV, then there is no looking back for Hero in further EV expansion.

Price

The pricing of the Hero electric Maestro is expected to have tag below 1 lakh, somewhere around Rs 80,000-90,000. It will be competing against the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.
