The BMW X1 is the entry-level SUV from BMW. It got a major redesign in 2016 and has been doing well in sales since. Now, with the introduction of the BS6 engines the car will get a minor facelift as it has been four years since the car was launched. It will get minor cosmetic upgrades along with an updated infotainment system. Read below to find out more about the car.

Design

BMW has recently launched its new models such as the 7 series and the X5. The most noticeable change in all these cars is the dominant grille that has become much bigger in size to add characteristics to the car. The X1 will be no different and will get the large grille. The bumpers have also been reworked on and the lights are also different and adhere to the new design language of the company. The X1 M-sport which is the top variant of the X1 gets larger disc brakes and more aggressive styling.

From the inside as well it gets a couple of changes. The car will get better quality of plastics inside with a panoromic sunroof as well as a new 10.25 inch infotainment screen that will have Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Other features are keyless entry, ambient lighting and more. In terms of safety features, the BMW X1 gets ABS with EBD, ESC, rear camera, six-airbags, traction control and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Engine and transmission

It is offered with two engines, a diesel and a petrol. The petrol is a 2.0 litre one that produces 187bhp and 280Nm of torque and the diesel is also a 2.0 litre one that produces 184bhp and 400nm of torque. The petrol is mated to a seven speed AT transmission while the diesel is offered with an eight speed AT transmission. Both these engines are now compliant with the BS6 emission norms in the country. Sadly the car loses the all wheel drive system and is only offered with a rear wheel drive
