Honda Shine 125 gets BS6 upgrade

The Honda shine has gotten the BS6 update recently. It gets a price hike along with a few upgrades. It will get some new features to justify the hiked price tag. BS6 Honda shine engine

The engine now meets with the BS6 norms of the country. The new engine gives an improved fuel economy by 14% and all-new 125cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that develops 10.

7bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm at 6,000rpm.

These figures are slightly higher than the BS4 Shine’s motor, which developed 10.3hp at 7,500rpm and 10.30Nm at 5,500rpm.The motor is paired to a new 5-speed transmission.

BS6 Honda Shine features

It gets a silent start system. The bike also gets overall better components such as a new switchgear that gets updated switches than the outgoing model. It also gets a much needed new instrument cluster and a halogen headlight unit that runs on DC power. This signifies that the BS6 update packs much more than just changes to the engine.

Design and dimensions

It gets a host of cosmetic upgrades such as a new design tail lam, new alloys along with addition of chrome elements around the bike. Underneath the refreshed design, Honda has altered the chassis by extending the wheelbase by 19mm. Ground clearance has gone up by 5mm as well.

The seat length has also been extended by 27mm, which Honda says has been designed for improved long distance comfort.

Pricing

The bike costs Rs 67,000 for the base variant which has the drum brakes. This is around 7,000 more than the BS4 model. The variant with the disk brakes will now cost Rs 72,000. It will also get a three year warranty as standard. The bike competes with the likes of the Hero Super Splendor and Bajaj Discover 125.
