So finally Bajaj has launched the much-awaited Avenger series into the BS6 avatar.

The blog will be based on the range of the Bajaj Avenger Street and Cruise model. We will be explaining the changes and the features it possesses over the BS4 counterpart. So read the whole blog and you will definitely find useful information regarding the Bajaj Avenger BS6 upgrade.

Engine

The engine is borrowed from the respective BS4 counterpart, of course with the BS6 update. Starting from the entry-level Avenger, the Street 160. The bike comes with the 160.4 cc motor which is shared with the street fighter sibling the Pulsar NS 160. The engine is an air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected unit, which puts out around 14.8 bhp max power at 8,500 rpm and 13.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine comes mated with the 5-speed gearbox.

On the other hand, Cruise 220 and Street 220, both sharing the same powertrain. The engine for both bikes is the 220 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected unit that churns 18.7 bhp of max power at 8,400 rpm and 17.5 Nm peak torque at 7,000 rpm. That engine comes mated with the 5-speed gearbox as standard. Observing the powers for all of the bikes, there is no significant power change over the predecessor, unlike the other BS6 transitioned bikes, which usually experience a significant power drop.

Hardware

The hardware bits for all of the bikes remains the same as the BS4 counterpart. Starting from the Street 160, the bikes come with the 17-inch front alloy wheel and 15-inch rear alloy wheels. The braking duty is managed by the larger 260 mm disc at the front and 130 mm disc at the rear. It gets a single-channel ABS as a standard, that means ABS is operational only on the front wheel. At the back, it gets the wheel speed sensor, which helps to calibrate the ABS and gives adequate confidence for the hard braking.

Avenger Street 220 and Cruise 220 also possess similar hardware bits as the Street 160. However, the ground clearance is down by 8 mm than the Steet 160 which is offered at 177 mm. The Cruise 220 comes with the spoke wheels and not with the alloy wheels. Suspension duty for all the following bikes is managed by the telescopic suspension at the front and twin hydraulic spring suspension at the rear.

Design

Design-wise there is not much change, but it has now been offered with the new colour options. It continues to have retro-classic elements such as wide tank design, somewhat circular headlamps and many more elements.

Price

The pricing of the bikes gained the hike around Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 compared with BS4 counterpart. The new BS6 Avenger Street 160 now cost at Rs 89,536 against the Rs 83,251 of the BS4 model. While the Avenger Cruise 220  and Avenger Street 220 BS6 now costs at Rs 1,15,134 against Rs 1,05,088 of the BS4 models.

The nearest rival we could think of is Suzuki Intruder 155 and the rumoured upcoming Suzuki Intruder 250.
