MG made its fortune in the Indian market by launching Hector and ZS EV, and will try to deepen the roots by expanding the portfolio. MG is planning to launch the series of products in 2020, starting from the Gloster, Hector Plus and ZS. In this blog, we will be explaining about the MG ZS 2020.

The Exterior Design

The exterior will be much or less similar to the recently launched MG ZS EV. It will be difficult for an individual to distinguish it from the EV counterpart, unless and until you see the fuel filler cap.

It will possess the projected headlamp setup, chrome treated honeycomb grille, and many other exterior bits, which is anyway subjective and depends more on the personal opinion. However, if you loved the MG ZS EV, you will then definitely like the MG ZS as well. You can watch our video on the MG ZS EV, where you can get a clear idea of the exterior design.

Powertrain

The powertrain is where the MG ZS will be differentiating from the EV counterpart. The UK version of MG ZS has two engine options- 1.5 DOHC petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces around 104 bhp while the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol produces around 110 bhp. The UK version has the option of a 5-speed manual for the 1.5-litre petrol and a 6-speed automatic for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. However, for the Indian market, it is expected to have various gearbox options, and also might have an option of the diesel engine due to the competition.

Interior and Features

The interior and features will be competitive and upmarket. The compact SUV sold in UK has features such as 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, 8-inch touch screen infotainment with satellite navigation and smartphone connectivity, etc. Driver assistant features include cruise control, reverse camera and sensors, follow me home light, 3 steering modes, 6-way manual seat adjustment and much more.

The UK model has a leather style upholstery. It will be interesting to see whether a similar type of quality level can make way to India or not. However, the interior and various features will be subtracted or added considering the market demand. The features such as a sunroof which is in demand for Indian markets, so we might have sunroof an option.

Price

The compact SUV sits just below the MG Hector. So it is expected to have pricing somewhere between 9-11 lakhs(ex-showroom). Price-wise it will be competing against Maruti Brezza, Kia Seltos and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
