Mahindra is all set to launch range of new cars in the upcoming months. The cars includes Scorpio, Thar and XUV 500. However in this blog we will not be discussing about the Scorpio and Thar, we will be covering about the upcoming XUV 500. It is speculated that XUV 500 will be seeing the green light to the production anytime soon. As we head towards covering the details of the Mahindra XUV 500 2020, continue reading below.

Exterior design

The upcoming XUV 500 will have more straightforward design compared with the predecessor. It will have less cuts and edges compared to the current version. The front fender will not get the cheetah inspired lines, rather it will be more upright and plain. The headlamp design is expected somewhat similar to the XUV 300 with the vertically placed daytime running LED DRLs. The headlamp is expected to be smaller than the onsale XUV 500. The upcoming XUV 500 will have more upright nose and much wider Mahindra signature grille unit. It will continue to have the character window line.

XUV 500 door handle

The next generation XUV 500 will not continue to have those unique cheetah claws door handles, rather it will feature flush-fitted door handles. This might be a disappointing for the XUV 500 admirers. Overall the exterior design of the XUV 500 will be more cleaner and subtle .

Interior Design

Similar to the exterior the interior will also possess straightforward design elements. The Mahindra XUV 500 2020 will have a flat bottom steering wheel, which is first on any Mahindra vehicle. It is likely to get the digital instrument cluster most-likely with the TFT panel. The centre console will be a bigger touch-screen unit with somewhere around 9-inch. The vehicle will possess smart connectivity features and also a smart voice assisted technology.

Mahindra XUV 500 4

The same engine will also be powering the upcoming Mahindra Thar and Scorpio and also the XUV 500 based Ford SUV. However the engine will be tuned different for the respective vehicles. Specifically Thar and Scorpio will have 140 bhp/320 Nm tuned version.

Price and rivals

The pricing of the Mahindra XUV 500 2020 is expected to similar to the ongoing version of the XUV 500. For reference the current model price starts at Rs 12.37 lakhs(ex-showroom) and goes up to 19.78 lakhs(ex-showroom) for the W11(O) top trim. It will be competing against the upcoming MG Hector plus, Tata Gravitas and rumored Creta 7-seater. The big USP of the XUV 500 is that it will be the only vehicle in the segment offering the all-wheel-drive mode.
