Yamaha motors has recently unveiled the upcoming Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 alongside the FZS 25. The Yamaha FZS 25 will represent the top variant of the FZ 25 series. The upcoming Yamaha FZ 25 packs slew of new features along with the new BS6 compliant engine. Lets see what changes it possess alongside the BS6 engine.

Design / Aesthetics

The upcoming Yamaha FZ 25  BS6 gets a completely redesigned headlamps unit, the headlamp is a full-LED unit. The bike now looks much bigger and macho compared to BS4 counterpart. The FZ 25 BS6 gets a new colour options, it will be available in two colour options- Metallic Black and Racing Blue. While the FZS 25 will have three colour options- Dark Cyan, Dark Blue and Metallic White. The graphics too has been updated with new elements and colours. The Moto GP edition will make a launch sometime later. The underbelly cowl is now offered from the standard variant as well. The FZS 25 will have options of gold-painted alloy wheels.

The remaining design elements will be carry forward from the BS4 variant. It will continue to have faux air-vent type element below the pillion seat, chrome treated exhaust guard, split-seats, and many other design bits.

Features

The Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 will now get a negative LCD display instrument console, which is a nice upgrade considering the older small LCD unit. The bike will possess side-stand engine inhibitor as a standard feature across the variants. Other features much or less will be same as the BS4 model.

Engine

The engine is retained from the BS4 counterpart, but now a BS6 compliant unit. The engine is 249 cc fuel-injected single-cylinder unit producing around 20.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 20.1 Nm peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The power has experienced a slight drop of around 0.1 bhp and also a 0.1 Nm torque drop compared with the BS4 model. The power considering the rivals is quite low, but it has enough low-end punch to match the rivals. The engine is paired with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

The cycle parts of the FZ 25 will be retained from the BS4 model. It will continue to have telescopic suspension at front and a monoshock suspension at rear. The FZ 25 BS6 will be offered with dual-disc option. The dual-channel ABS will be the standard safety feature. Overall the other hardware bits will be carry forward from the BS4 model.

Price

The price is expected to have a hike of Rs 8,000-12,000 over the BS4 counterpart. For reference the BS4 model costs around Rs 1.33 lakhs(ex-showroom). It will go on sale from the mid March 2020. It will be competing against the Suzuki Gixxer 250, KTM Duke 250 and upcoming Bajaj Dominar 250
