Bajaj Dominar 400 gained quite a fan following among the tourers. It was quite a versatile bike with enough grunt to cruise at triple digit speeds and also be comfortable at same time. It already was a value for money product and now, Bajaj is preparing to expand the portfolio under Dominar sub-Brand. The company will be launching the smaller version of the Dominar – 250 cc engine to have access to wider audiences. Lets see what is coming on the Dominar 250.

Design

The design elements of the Dominar 250 will be similar to the bigger sibling. It will have same headlights and body panels as the Dominar 400. However, it will be interesting to see which colour options the Dominar 250 will possess, since Auroral Green paint scheme is in a speculation. It will have different alloy wheels design and will not possess the diamond-cut alloy wheels. It will continue to get the full LED headlamps and LED indicators.

Powertrain

The Dominar 250 will be powered by the same KTM 250 Duke engine. The engine is a 248.76 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid -cooled unit producing around 29.6 bhp max power at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm peak torque at 7,500 rpm. However, it is suspected that it might have some tweaks and will possess slight drop in power compared to 250 Duke. The engine will be mated with the 6-speed manual gearbox and will also get slipper clutch.

Hardware

The Dominar 250 will get the rectangular section swing arm and not the one seen on the Dominar 400. The tyre width will also be less than the bigger sibling. It will continue to get the the up-side down front forks, single piece handlebar, dual port exhaust and other hardware bits. The chassis is likely to be remain unchanged. It will be offered with the twin disc, however the disc sizes will be smaller than the Dominar 400. Overall the hardware bits are expected to be remain same as the Dominar 400.

Ergonomis

Ergonomics will be much or less similar to the bigger Dominar. The rider will sit quite upright and well positioned due to the wide handlebars. The pillion seat can easily accommodate an average sized person and also accessible for the Indian ladies. The city commuting will be better in the Dominar 250 due to the low weight character and will be more nimble than the Dominar 400.

Features

The Dominar 250 will be equipped with many upmarket features. It will have negative display LCD speedometer, similar to the Dominar 400. It might also posses side stand engine inhibitor, smart connectivity features and much more upmarket and competitive features. The bike will have dual-channel ABS as standard safety feature, it will be interesting to see whether it will have switchable ABS or not.

Price

The pricing will be very competitive for sure. The price is expected to be around 30,000-40,000 cheaper than Dominar 400. For reference the Dominar 400 costs around Rs 1,9 lakh(ex-showroom). It will compete against the Suzuki Gixxer 250, KTM Duke 250, Husqvarna 250 and Yamaha FZ25.
