Okinawa unveiled the prototype of the brand’s electric maxi-scooter at Auto Expo, 2020. It also showcased its latest offerings- LITE, PraisePro and Ridge+. Okinawa’s electric maxi-scooter is the first electric cruiser scooter in India. It features a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery is a detachable battery, so one can charge it from anywhere for convenience. The scooter comes with a high-speed AC charger that offers a charging time of 2-3 hours. It can have a max range of 120 km on a single charge. The scooter is able to clock the top speed of 100 km/hr. The scooter will come with the e-ABS system, which charges the battery while braking. It will also feature ‘Find my scooter’ feature, as it was seen before on other Okinawa scooters.
Okinawa’s LITE scooter is the small scooter majorly for short-distance commuters. It is well suited for the buyers looking for light use scooters. The LITE offers the range of 50-60 km. On the other hand, PraisePro and Ridge+ are best suited for medium-duty works. The above two scooters also offer the detachable battery system and offer a range of approx 100 km on a single charge.
Price of Okinawa electric maxi-scooter will be approximately Rs 1.2 lakhs(ex-showroom). It will compete against the recently launched Bajaj Chetak and TVS iqube. The Okinawa LITE is priced at Rs 59,990, while PraisePro and Ridge+ are priced at Rs 79,277(ex-showroom) and Rs 73,272(ex-showroom) respectively.
Okinawa is an Indian electric scooter manufacturer. The brand launched its first electric scooter in 2017. Currently, Okinawa has seven electric scooters in its portfolio ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1.15(ex-showroom). The manufacturer is planning to make the electric two-wheelers in the near future
