Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV unveiled- Brezza Rival

Volkswagen revealed the new compact SUV Taigun. Based on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform Taigun will be India based SUV. Price is expected to be around Rs 10-11 lakhs (ex-showroom).

From the Day one of the Auto Expo 2020, Volkswagen group has started with the blast. Volkswagen group just showcased its vision for the upcoming years. Lets see the features and specifications of VW Taigun below.

Exterior / Aesthetics

During the unveil, Volkswagen Taigun was showcased in Sparkling gold colour. It is assumed that Taigun will have very funky colour options. The Volkswagen Taigun has VW’s signature chrome grille, LED headlamp setup and long silver diffuser at front. From side it will have vinyl graphics at the C-pillar. Wheel arches are offered for more bulkier look.

It gets the new diamond cut alloy wheels. The officials also told that it possess the big bonnet to resemble the SUV. The Rear has Glossy basement and the LED tail-lamps joining both the ends.

Interior

The interior will have dual tone colour matching with its body colour. It gets a new digital instrument cluster, automatic headlamps and a semi-digital infotainment system.

However features like sun-roof, six-airbags and other premium features are skeptical for now.

Engine

There is no engine reveal, however we expect it to have 1.0-litre turbo petrol that produces 115 bhp max power and 200 Nm peak torque. The engine will be in the BS6 format. The engine will have an option of AMT gearbox. Volkswagen will showcase its other models pretty soon in the Auto Expo with the respective engine options.

India 2.0

Volkswagen showed the INDIA 2.0 vision for making Volkswagen group efficient. The investment of Rs 7,900 crores will be made to work with the vision. In the INDIA 2.0 programme, Volkswagen will be launching the four new SUVs in the next two years.

MQB platform

The Volkswagen Taigun is based on MQB AO-IN platform. The platform will be shared with Skoda’s Vision IN compact SUV. As per the Volkswagen officials MQB platform is supposed to have better stability and strength that promises the safety.

Price

The price is expected to be attractive considering the premium features and specifications it will have. It is expected to have Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs(ex-showroom) price bracket. Volkswagen Taigun will compete against Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Ford Ecosport.

Along with the Volkswagen Taigun, the Volkswagen group showcased the Skoda Vision IN, Audi A8L, Porshe 911 and Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD.
