Maruti S-Presso has been spotted testing for a while. Maruti will be launching its BS6 compliant CNG S-Presso following the recently launched BS6 Alto CNG. It is expected to return higher mileage than BS6 WagonR CNG. To know more about mileage and features of S-Presso CNG read below.

Most of the fleet market has shifted towards the CNG due to its low running cost. Considering this, many of the private owners are exchanging their crude oil-based vehicle with CNG vehicle to make daily commute cheaper. Maruti has been an old player in the CNG market. Maruti sells about 7% of CNG vehicles across its total sales. While in urban areas Maruti sells about 30% CNG vehicles. Maruti currently has five CNG cars in its portfolio. By launching S-Presso CNG it will be Maruti’s sixth car in its CNG lineup.

Powertrain

The Maruti S-Presso BS6 is offered only with a K10B petrol engine. It is 998cc three-cylinder unit producing max 67 bhp at 5500 rpm and 90 Nm peak torque at 3500 rpm. The engine is mated to the 5-speed manual or optional AMT gearbox. S-Presso CNG BS6 will be equipped with the Maruti’s S-CNG technology to give safety and optimum performance. However, it will have a drop in power output by 10-15%.

  

Mileage

The current BS6 Maruti S-Presso returns claimed mileage of 21.4 Km /l. While the CNG version will have a significant increase in mileage over the petrol version. The BS6 Maruti WagonR CNG returns claimed mileage of 33 Km / Kg.

The mileage of CNG S-Presso will have similar figures with WagonR CNG.

Maruti S Presso Interiors Airbags

The CNG S-Presso will continue to get features like dual airbags, ABS, EBD  and engine immobilizer. There will be no design changes on the S-Presso CNG over the petrol trim. However, the suspension will be tuned to overcome the extra load of the CNG tank. The boot storage will have large shrink due to CNG storage tank. The standard Boot space is 270 litres.

Price

Maruti launched its previous CNG model on the LXI trims. So it is expected that S-Presso will be launched in its LXI trim. The price of Maruti S-Presso LXI variant starts from Rs 4.05 lakhs (ex-showroom). The price of CNG variant will be 50,000 – 60,000 premium over the LXI trim.
