The cabin of the new Thar 2020 has got a complete redesign. The seating has been made more comfortable. It also gets a new infotainment system. This might get the Apple Carplay and Android Auto Connect. The steering wheels have also been made sleeker and the driver information centre has been changed too. There is a new grab handle to the left of the gear lever. This also gets a 4×4 lever placed next to it. The rear seats have now been made front-facing to improve safety and make them more comfortable.
Thar New Exteriors
The exteriors of the vehicle have also been changed to a large extent. Although the design has been made more modern the certain characteristics of the vehicle remain intact. This vehicle will continue to have the vertically slotted front grille, fender-mounted turn indicators and the wide, flat bonnet. The round halogen lights might be replaced with While LED light. This might get an integrated daytime running lights strip. The tailgate will remain to be side-hinged which reduces practicality but adds to the classic nature of the vehicle. The vertical brick-shaped tail lamps might now become a complete LED unit.
There won’t be a change in the chassis of the vehicle. It will remain the same ladder frame chassis as on the Scorpio 2020. The Ladder frame chassis might not give the vehicle high-speed stability but it gives the vehicle a rigid body structure. This improves crash test performance.
Thar 2020 Competition
The Mahindra Thar will have a straight-up rivalry with the Force Gurkha 2020. This vehicle will also receive a new BS6 engine. The Thar is set to get a 2.0-litre diesel engine. This engine will have a 140bhp of power but the torque will be massive 300Nm. This paired with the 6-speed manual transmission and the 4WD system will make the Mahindra Thar 2020 a do it all machine.
