The budget MPV offering from Renault, the Triber, has been updated to meet the BS6 engine norms. This car was launched last year. It was an attempt by Renault to offer an affordable solution to the 7 seater vehicle segment. But the vehicle was launched in BS4 version. Let’s take a closer look at the Renault Triber BS6and what exactly has changed.

What is it?

The Renault Triber has been a strong overall product that has improved the sales of Renault. In essence, it is a seven-seater for anyone on a budget, or for anyone who is ready to ditch the third row in order to get loads of luggage space.

Features

It has features like projector headlamps, LED DRLs, engine start/stop button, LED instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ceiling-mounted third-row air vents, passive keyless entry, pillar-mounted second-row air vents, cooled centre box, keyless entry, push-button stop/start, and four airbags.

BS6 Triber price difference

Sadly the only noticeable difference in the BS6 Triber is its price, with the top variant being pricier by about Rs 5000, and the variant going up by 29,000. The new pricing for all the variants are given in the table below:

Engines and specifications

The engine output which was 72hp and 96nm of torque also remains the same and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. It gets the dual VVT system which the company says will give maximum performance and refinement. It also achieves a claimed 20kmpl. Although there are some speculations about the Triber getting a turbo engine for the future nothing has been confirmed for now.

Dimensions and platform

It is based on the CMFA+ platform developed by Renault. Dimensions wise the car measures 3,990 mm in length, 1,739 mm in width and 1,637 mm in height. Its wheelbase stands at 2,636 mm, while the ground clearance spans 182 mm. You also get a fully removable third-row of seats. The boot space of the BS6 Triber is 84-litres with the third row 625-litres in its five-seater configuration(5-seat configuration).

On the safety features list, it includes three-point seat belts on all rows, ABS, reverse parking sensors, and at least two airbags. Additionally, top-spec variants get the added safety of front-side airbags and a rear parking camera as before
