Well, the electric car scenario is sure heating up in our country leading to Auto expo 2020. It the MG ZS EV that has been launched today. With the Hyundai Kona getting a decent response in terms of booking, and the Tata Nexon EV launch right around the corner. Indians are surely not shying away from EV vehicles even though the infrastructure for EV vehicles does not seem to be quite ready. It already gained success before its launch by getting close to 2800 pre-bookings making the company’s decision of introducing an EV car to the country, a successful one.

MG ZS EV pricing and features

The car was launched at a price of 19.88L initially for those who booked it before 17th of January and after which it is 20.8L ex-showroom for the ZS EV Excite, and 23.58L for the ZS EV Exclusive. The pricing has been met with positivity by many as it has been lesser than expected. It is a mid-size SUV that comes with all the bells and whistles that the MG Hector had to offer although with a smaller size screen projector headlamps. On the outside, it has 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED taillights, PM 2.

5 air filter. It comes with 44.5 kWh battery that is good for 340 km and produces 142 ps and 353nm of torque.

This will propel the car from 0-100 in about 8.5 seconds making it a bit faster than its rival the Hyundai Kona.

On the inside is where MG cars really seem to impress with this car being no exception and getting the i-SMART EV 2.0 infotainment, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. Its EV-specific updates including the battery and range status, charging information, eco-friendly updates, range alert, 360 spider navigation, charging station info and voice recognition, all of which can be accessed via the i-SMART EV 2.0 infotainment system.

Warranty and Maintenance

So what has been the secret behind the success of MG to garnish so many pre-bookings? Well to make sure that customers don’t have to second doubt over buying an electric vehicle, MG has made the ownership experience of the MG to be class apart.

It has introduced the MG shield, which provides a 5-year warranty for an unlimited warranty on the car and car parts except for the battery which gets and 8 years or 150 thousand km warranty. Also included is the 24-hour roadside assistance for a period of five years along with 5 labour free services. It also comes with maintenance packages starting at INR 7,700 for 3 years. It will be launched in five cities, namely- Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad. It is also going to establish charging facilities across the country to strengthen its EV network.
