The price at which the Hyundai Aura starts is lower than the base price of the Hyundai Xcent. The Hyundai Xcent base variant price is at Rs 5.81 lakhs. The most baffling thing of all is that the price of the BS4 Xcent in the diesel variant is Rs 1 lakh less than the Hyundai Aura dieselBS6 and the top-spec Hyundai Aura diesel is Rs 25,000 more. This shows how sensitively the Hyundai Aura has been priced.

What makes the Hyundai Aura unique?

Although the Hyundai seems like it has been derived from the Grand i10 Nios it is more like a what the Grand i10 Nios is to the Grand i10. The Aura being a compact sedan improves everything that was on the Hyundai Xcent. It has a wider body with a longer wheelbase. Which might translate into more room inside the cabin. It is feature-packed and this is not just the thing that separates it from the Hyundai Xcent. It comes in all 3 fuel options. The CNG variant is provided from the start itself. This will make it more economical to run along with better reliability as the kit is factory fitted.

The BS4 compliant 1.2-litre engine has been updated to BS6 norms. Hyundai India has made use of the Lean NOx Trap (LNT). They have also used diesel particulate filters (DPF). This will be the first BS6 compliant diesel engine from Hyundai. This engine will make its way to other diesel vehicles with smaller engines.

Aura Engine Specifications

The 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is the same as on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. This makes about 83bhp. The new BS6 compliant diesel engine is seen for the first time on the Hyundai Aura. This will make its way to the B6 complaint variant of the Grand i10 Nios. The new engine makes about 75bhp of power along with 190 Nm of torque. These both engines are paired with 5-speed manual as well as 5 Speed AMT gearbox.

The petrol engine comes with an option of CNG but there is a difference in power. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The CNG variant makes 69bhp of power and 95 Nm of torque. The ARAI mileage of the vehicle for the diesel MT is 25.35 km/l and for the AMT is 25.4 km/l. The petrol gives a mileage of 20.5 and 20.1 respectively for Manual and AMT. The CNG model is rated at 28.4 km/kg.

Hyundai Aura is also offered with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This engine is the most punchy of the lot. The engine makes 100bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque. The torque figure is similar to that of the Hyundai Venue but the power has dropped. This variant comes with a manual transmission only. It has been focused on power users who look for the fun of driving. The 20.5 km/l of mileage is something that we have to test in real life.

Hyundai Aura Interiors

Today at the official launch of the vehicle the interiors have been revealed for the first time. They have a lot of similarities as on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The dashboard, switchgear, control and seats were as same as the of the hatchback. The vehicle comes with a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system is 8.0-inch touch screen panel. This comes with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity. The vehicle gets an Arkamys sound system. This is a brilliant offering at this price point. Also, the vehicle gets wireless charging and a cooled glove box. This is also seen with AC vents are the rear along with an armrest. The driver rearview mirror projects from the inside rearview mirror.

Hyundai Warranty

The company offers a warranty package with the name Wonder Warrant Plan. This includes 3 variants – three years/ three lakh kilometres, four years/50,000km and five years/40,000km. The include roadside assistance for the time period.

Hyundai Aura Competition

The Hyundai Aura comes as a better car in front of the Hyundai Xcent. Although this being the case the company will not discontinue the vehicle and they will continue to sell it exclusively to the taxi and fleet market. The vehicle gives a tough competition by offering a well-thought package. The BS6 diesel is priced competitively and it will be a good rival to the Honda Amaze. The BS6 diesel CVT on the Honda Amaze is expected to come out soon.

The company has decided to take orders for the diesel engine but it is expected that there will be a delay because of the BS6 fuel has not been circulated all over the country. Also the mileage of the vehicle is something that we will have to wait for the relay on-road review. We have done a complete mileage run of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
