Renault is planning to unveil the new Brezza competition at AutoExpo 2020. The new compact SUV has been found testing on the outskirts of Chennai, near the Renault factory. Currently, Renault has given the code name to the compact SUV – HBC. With the entering of Renault into the segment, things should get more competitive. Find out more below as we discuss what can be expected from this upcoming SUV. Check out the spy shots and video for the same.

What to expect in the Brezza Competition?

Initially, the SUV is expected to come with an all-new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is expected to produce around 95bhp of max power. This engine is going to be first seen on the Renault Triber. It seems that Renault might not offer a diesel engine due to stricter emission norms and also shifting of the market towards petrol. AMT is likely to receive right from the launch.

Renault Brezza Competition

This new sub-four-meter compact SUV will be based on the Kwid derived CMF-A + platform. This platform is currently shared with the Renault Triber. So it could also share interior features with the Triber like – instrument cluster, steering wheel, touchscreen, dashboard controls etc.

Unlike the Triber, the three-row seat arrangement will be substituted by a two-row seating arrangement for a more spacious interior. The car will get smart storage options and Renault will try and give this Brezza competition SUV a segment rivalling boot. We can expect that top variant could be loaded with minimum 4 airbags, cooled glove box, rear ac vents and unique infotainment system.

Design, pricing and competition

Aesthetically it will have similar styling to that of facelifted Kwid. Headlamp position will be below the LED DRLs similar to Kwid. It will get a multi slat 3D grille with chrome treatment at front. This SUV will get new alloy wheels and flared wheel arches to enhance looks. It will get 15-inch to 16-inch tyres. Taillamps could be LED units and rear will sport parking sensors, rear wiper, rearview camera and a rugged looking bumper. With the HBC one will get keyless entry and possibly even front parking sensors.

The official launch of the Renault HBC is slated in the second half of 2020. This Brezza competition is a direct rival to Nexon, Venue, Ecosport so we expect the price to be competitive to the rivals around 6.5 lakh to 8.50 lakh ex-showroom. Take a look at the launches that are expected to take place this year.
