Should You wait for the – Bajaj Avenger 220 BS6

The Bajaj Avenger has been a vehicle which has been a hit among cruisers ever since its debut in 2005. It was the only bike at that time which provided the typical cruiser looks and functionality along with a decent engine. Bajaj later fixed this lack of power by offering a 220cc engine as on the Pulsar and this bike becomes the perfect cruiser. Currently, the bike comes in 3 variants which are Street 180, Street 220 and the Cruise 220. The Cruise 220 is the complete package which offers a good amount of chrome along with a good seating posture as on a classic American cruiser.

Now with the BS6 norms on the head, Bajaj is coming up with the updated engine for the Avenger series.

We expect the Bajaj Avenger 220 BS6 should be the first offering along with the Pulsar 220F which was spotted testing recently.

Why should you wait for the Bajaj Avenger 220 BS6?

Finally, with the BS6 norms, there will be a fuel-injected version of the bike. This will make the 220cc engine deliver power more leniently and offer consistent mileage too. The bike will feel refined too which will make cruising comfort. Although vibrations were never an issue on this bike it will now have even less vibration.

Along with the newly revised safety norms, this bike will now see an option of dual-channel ABS(Anti-Lock Braking System). The base variant of the bike will come with single-channel ABS(Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard. The details of the vehicle are not out yet but we can expect some change in terms of the graphics.

The bike might get a secondary digital instrument cluster on the tank as on the Dominar 400. The headlamps of the vehicle might be a complete LED units with separate daytime running lights. Also, the cruise version of the bike will get rear disc brake which has been missing for a long time. The seat of the bike if it sees some better cushioning might be much better too.

The price of the Bajaj Avenger 220 BS6 will see a price hike of at least Rs 5000. Currently the topmost variant i.e The Cruise variant is priced at Rs 1.09 lakhs. This bike has a tough competition from the Suzuki Intruder and the upcoming TVS Zeppelin which is also expected to sport a 220cc engine.
