Honda has been looking for opportunities to increase its market share in the competitive 125cc sports scooter market. For this They have a very optimal product the Honda PCX 125. This Japanese brand is ready to roll out some different products than just the typical commuter scooter in different cosmetic updates. The arrival of the vehicle in the Indian market could stir up things in the sports scooter market.

The vehicle will be a premium Maxi scooter.

In the international market, the Honda PCX is offered with different engine options. For the Indian Market, the vehicle will be featuring a 125cc engine. The scooter will target the youth who are looking for premium sporty scooters. The scooter will be an all in one exciting scooter to ride daily. Honda has been successful with Maxi scooters in the South East Asian markets. If it is priced right then it will do well here too.

How will the Honda PCX 125 look like?

The design of the PCX 125 has been inspired by the bigger PCX 150. The scooter gets a big and flashy headlight. The headlight will have LED headlamps which will be positioned at the centre of the front section of the bike.  The front will get a small windshield which will for cosmetic purposes only. The scooter will have a completely digital instrument cluster. The handlebars will be free from the front portion of the headlight and this will improve the steering geometry of the vehicle. Also, the handlebar will feel light. The scooter will get a comfortable seat which will be paired with a spacious footboard area which will make riding this scooter comfortable.

The seat will be well moulded around the rider as well as the pillion will get a backrest. This scooter will pick up styling cues from the old Honda Blaze too.

Honda PCX 150 in motion

The grab rail at the rear will be a part of the design of the LED taillights. The scooter will look proportionate and good from the point of the rider as well as onlookers. This scooter will be available in some special colours too. An option of Matte colour can also be expected. The scooter will have large storage compartment below the seat also there will be a provision of USB charging port for the vehicle. The option of connected scooters can also be expected on this scooter.

What will power the Honda PCX?

The Honda PCX will see the same new BS6 compliant 125cc engine as on the Honda Activa 125. This engine will come equipped with a silent starter. Also, the engine will be tuned to generate more power.

This scooter will get a V-Matic transmission instead of the regular CVT. This will improve the potential of the engine.

The scooter will come with disc brakes at the front. The rear disc brakes are something that the India spec model might not get. The front forks will be telescopic which will absorb bumps properly. As the power of the vehicle goes up we can expect the fuel economy to drop slightly. Also, the weight of the scooter will be 125kg which will be an exceptional weight for a Maxi-Scooter.

This scooter will get its competition from the Aprilia SR 125, Vespa 125 and the TVS Ntorq. The pricing of the vehicle is expected to range from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,00,000. This price might seem high but with BS6 update the competition is also getting a price hike too.
