The uncamouflaged prototype of the Ford Endeavour BS6 has been spotted while being tested. This tell us that the company is getting ready for BS6 update. This vehicle is a flagship vehicle in Ford’s lineup. It has already received a mid-life refresh this year. For the BS6 update, there won’t be any cosmetic change. The vehicle will remain as it is and it will see only an engine change. The test vehicle that has been spotted does not show any change from the current outgoing model.

The Ford Endeavour BS6 is expected to have the same engine options. This includes a 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine and the 3.2 litres four-cylinder engine. Both these engines are the diesel engine and this provides the exceptional torque. The 2.2-litre engine produces a power of 160 bhp and a massive torque of 385 Nm. This comes with a both manual and automatic 6-speed gearbox. This engine option is seen only on the Titanium and Titanium + trims. The catch here is that it has a 4X2 configuration. The bigger 3.2-litre engine is available on the Titanium + trim. It comes only in the automatic gearbox which is a 6 speed. This also gets a 4X4 system. This engine creates 200 bhp and 470 Nm of torque. Both these engines are in the line to get BS6 update. The output might drop in terms of power figures.

2019 Ford Endevour

Now with the BS6 norm to come into existence from April a lot of manufacturers have decided to discontinue diesel engine. To make a diesel engine BS6 there will be more chances that have to be made which will drastically increse the price of these engines than its petrol counterparts. With the BS6 update on the Ford Endeavour, we expect an increase of Rs 3-5 lakhs. At present, the SUV has 3 variants. The Titanium 4X2 MT, Titanium 4X2 AT and Titanium 4X4 AT. These have been priced at Rs 29.20 lakh, Rs 32.33 lakh and Rs 34.70 lakh respectively. This increased price will be a result of the additional components and the mechanical changes on the engine.

This vehicle is a premium SUV. It competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Skoda Kodiaq and the Isuzu MU-X. It comes with a lot of premium features like 6 airbags, hill start assists, ABS with electronic brake distribution and other fancy tits bits like leather seats with power adjustment. On the higher trims, it even gets terrain management system, hill descent control, auto park assist, sunroof ambient lighting and front parking sensors.

As of now, Ford is working along with Mahindra to bring in an XUV500 Nextgen. The company might also work together on some electric commuter vehicles in future. Also, the Ford Mach E might come in later stages of the electric revolution in the automobile industry in India. We can expect the launch of the BS6 models of these vehicles very soon in February end.
