As automakers prepare for BS6 emission norms, a lot of BS6 compliant vehicles have been spotted while being tested. The 2020 Mahindra KUV 100 BS6 has been spotted while being tested. Mahindra is seen with a previously with a 1.2-litre diesel engine as on the BS4 version. Now the petrol 1.2-litre engine has been spied while on test.
In June the company had shown its readiness to deliver BS6 petrol and diesel vehicle in 3-4 months. 2020 Mahindra KUV100 BS6 petrol variant is a part of this program. The Mahindra KUV 100 BS6 will have 3 engine option. The G15TGDI (1.5 litres), G12TGDI (turbocharged 1.2-litre unit), G12TCMPFI (3-cyl turbocharged 1.2 litres seen in XUV300) and G06 (625cc petrol/CNG for LCVs). This new range of BS6 petrol engine will be seen in 8 Mahindra vehicle platforms. The company will also update all the 1.5-litre diesel engine to meet BS6 norms. The 1.2-litre petrol engine will power the KUV 100 and the XUV 300 petrol variant. The state of tune in both these vehicles will different on both these vehicles.
The Mahindra KUV 100 BS6 petrol will be as affordable as it can get. It will be the most affordable Mahindra vehicle. Though the KUV 100 was launched long time ago. It dod not have initial sales success. But when the Maruti launched a competition for this vehicle then the sales for this vehicle soared. The KUV 100 sold around 183 units. By launching the BS6 version of the KUV 100 the Mahindra is planning to get over the Maruti Spresso. The Mahindra vehicle is has a more powerful engine than the 1-litre engine on the Maruti Spresso.
The vehicle is a 1.2-litre petrol BS4 engine will have 82 bhp and 115 Nm. The engine on the BS4 on the XUV 300 delivers 110bhp and 200 Nm of torque. This shows that the engine has potential and could be seen with a turbo while using it on a premium vehicle.
The Mahindra has shown interest to launch of the BS6 petrol engine as soon as possible. The BS6 diesel vehicle are expected to be ready soon, too. Apart for the KUV 100 BS6, Mahindra is also testing the new Gen XUV 400, XUV 500 and the Scorpio. The bolero and Thar are also have been seen while being tested on road. The launch of the vehicle is expected right after the bs6 norms dead line.
