There are a lot of manufacturers that are discontinuing products, especially ones with diesel powertrains. Mahindra is not one of those manufacturers. This gets clear with cars like the 2020 Mahindra TUV300 BS6 which will be updated to follow the stricter norms – coming from April later this year. Mahindra is not going to discontinue cars that are performing decently in the market and will be stopping production of vehicles like the Xylo and Verito. Mahindra will be updating or getting complete new-generation products for the rest of the range. Products like the Scorpio, Thar and XUV500 are being totally overhauled. But what about the TUV300? Apart from being BS6 compliant, what will change?

So what will change?

The new 2020 Mahindra TUV300 BS6 will not get a lot of changes. This is because of the fact that this year, the TUV300 received substantial changes cosmetically. The car in 2020 will not sport any new updates with the exception of the engine being enhanced and updated for BS6. The 2019 updates for the car included the following –

  • The TUV300 got new aggressive piano black front grille with black chrome inserts, muscular side cladding & a newly designed X-shaped metallic grey spare wheel cover. It also got new headlamp design with Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) and a carbon black finish.
  • 2 new color options – Highway Red & Mystic Copper, in addition to the stylish dual-tone Red + Black / Silver + Black, Bold Black, Majestic Silver and Pearl White colors. Besides the existing variants (T4+, T6+, T8 and T10) a new variant – T10 (O) with leatherette seats and lumbar support was added.

Now all of this will continue to be the same. The 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue to serve on this engine with a BS6 state of tune and a new exhaust system. It will be paired to a manual and AMT gearbox too. Mahindra could make the 2020 Mahindra TUV300 cheaper and add variants by offering the Mahindra XUV300’s 1.5-litre petrol engine also on the TUV300. It will make the car cheaper and more attractive for city dwellers.

2020 Mahindra TUV300 BS6 Price and competition?

The 2020 Mahindra TUV300 will see a price hike of Rs 1 lakh with the car coming up to BS6 norms. The TUV300 can become more affordable if it is offered with a petrol engine. The TUV300 will continue to compete with the compact SUV range of cars like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and even it’s own sibling – the XUV300.
