The Force Motors Gurkha is formidable and one of the best cars for the masses with off-road capability. Still, it is a niche product and does not sell in the huge numbers as it’s main rival – the Mahindra Thar has.  Now with the all-new Thar coming next year, Force Motors finally thinks it’s time for the Gurkha to upgrade itself to meet the challenge head-on. We and our reader – Karan Dogra spotted the upcoming Gurkha recently.  Below is what we think are the possible updates that await this offroader.

2020 Force Gurkha BS6 Changes?

Let’s face it, while the Gurkha is mechanically been supreme in its class, on the features front it has lagged badly. By the spy shots we have here below, there seem to be quite a few changes.

New headlights, taillamps and a new snorkel are totally visible. The car has a new hood and as shown below will continue to be offered in both a two-door and four-door setup. The four-door version will also get an option of a long-wheelbase as the Traxx.

On the inside, the car will get a touchscreen at the top-spec, better upholstery, airbags and seatbelt warning as standard. Overall the 2020 Force Gurkha BS6 will be more appealing to its buyers who expect some amount of basic features and better quality of materials.

2020 Force Gurkha Engine and cost?

The car is now according to some reports get a BS6 engine so that it can be sold after the April deadline. The car will get a new 2.6-litre engine. The Mercedes engine that does duty on the Gurkha will be retired. We can expect it to make power and it will still come with a six-speed gearbox. There could be a possibility of an automatic if Force Motors thinks to woo the urban audience. The price will increase surely but we hope that the addition of new features makes it more interesting as an option to consider.
