Mahindra XUV500 2020 is the making. The company has been testing out their new SUV for a while now. The Ssangyong Korando 2019 uses the same platform, which has been localised for the new-gen SUV. The new Mahindra XUV500 will be a lot more agile and ready for the future safety norms also, as the Korando is made for global markets.

Mahindra XUV500 debuted in 2011. 2017 was when it got an update. Its time for the new-gen to come in. The Mahindra XUV500 2020 platform will be extended from the current Korando format to meet the seven-seater requirement. The XUV500 has been known to offer – good space, performance and even features.

These characters will be carried forward on the XUV500 along with the new-generation.

Mahindra XUV500 2020 Price and Specs

The new SUV is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in February, hosted in Greater Noida. We expect the pricing to be around Rs 15 lakhs to Rs 24 lakhs. The new engines will be 2.0-litre petrol and diesel. These shall be BS6 compliant and will offer more power. The petrol should churn about 150bhp and the diesel will be about 180bhp. Both the engines will come with six-speed manual and automatic options.

Mahindra will get an electric version too. That won’t be anytime soon. These engines are developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong together.

In terms of new features expected: Connected Car tech, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, traction control, ESP and even electric parking brake. There should be some improvement in the space for the third row and the boot. The XUV500 2020 is expected to be launched by April 2020 for the Indian market.

Other features on offer expected are HID projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch wheels, 200mm ground clearance, 10-inch touchscreen system, Android Auto, Apple Carplay, 360 camera and even leather upholstery. Mahindra will be launching the Scorpio and the Thar also. The Scorpio 2020 shall be based on the XUV500 platform and the Thar will be all new too.
