Bajaj is all set for the launch of BS6 range. The Bajaj Platina BS6 has been seen while being tested. The images of the vehicle have been leaked by ThrustZone.com. This is one of the best selling bikes in India with an engine option of 100cc and 115cc.

This is the main reason we can expect the Bajaj Platina to become the next the BS6 upgrade by Bajaj.

The test vehicle has not changed in terms of shape. The fuel tank has been camouflaged. This means that the vehicle will have a new pair of graphics for the tank. There might also be a new colour option which might be seen on the vehicle. The bike was seen with drum brakes at both ends which has CBS. CBS comes as standard fitment on the bikes. The front has telescopic forks at the front and the rear has twin shock absorbers. These might be the only cosmetic changes on the vehicle. Rest remains the same as the single-piece long seat, single grab rail and allow wheels. The instrument cluster on the vehicle is also the same twin-pod unit as on the older vehicle.

In terms of mechanicals, the engine will become BS6 ready. To make it BS6 ready it will get a Fuel injection system.

Getting a fuel injection does not always mean that it will drop in terms of mileage.

The company might tune the Fuel Injection system so that it maintains BS6 compliance as well as it runs on less fuel. All this is sceptical as we don’t know if the bike of such small displace will require fuel injections. As on the Activa 125 BS6, we see a fuel injection even though it is a small engine.

The recently an updated version of the Bajaj Platina with a 115cc engine was launched. The vehicle produces 8.4 bhp of power and 9.81 Nm of peak torque. This engine is derived from the 110cc engine of the older platina.

This also gets a variant with an H-gear model. The company calls it a Highway gear.

It is the first 110cc vehicle to get a 5-speed transmission. The 100cc model of the vehicle still gets the old 4-speed gearbox. It is speculated that with the BS6 norms closing in only the bigger engine of the vehicle will remain and the smaller 100cc engine will be discontinued. There will be a price hike on the BS6 model as it will get some change in the engine to make it BS6 compliant. The current price of the vehicle is Rs 39,987 – Rs 55,373.

This vehicle has been doing good numbers in sales due to its affordable price and comfortable riding posture.

That is a reason why Bajaj has been planning to introduce this bike with BS6 engine as soon as possible. Due to the current update, the Platina now goes against bikes like Hero i-Smart, Yamaha Saluto and TVS Radeon. This focuses on consumers who are looking for premium commuters. The 110cc Platina cost Rs for 55,373 the disc variant.
