Skoda Superb facelift to launch in May 2020

 A few recent tweets from Zac Hollis has made it clear that the Skoda Superb will be launched before the 2020 Skoda Kodiaq. This means that we can expect the facelift version of the Skoda Superb in 2020. This vehicle is now in its third generation. With the launch of the 2020 Skoda Superb, the company will try to get the vehicle in competition with the other sedans in this segment. Already the vehicle is tightly packed this update will give it the necessary bits of features that have made them in the year 2020.

2020 Skoda Superb Launch

The launch of the Superb will be in the month of May. It will be a facelift launch. The vehicle will be seen with an all now BS6 engine which will make its way into other Skoda vehicles like the Kodiaq. The launch will confirm the power figures of the new engine and it will also give us an idea of Skoda’s plans for the coming years. 

2020 Skoda Superb Price

Currently, the Skoda Superb has been priced at Rs 30.33 lakhs and its top-end Diesel model is priced at 33.30 lakhs. The BS 6 version will be costlier than the existing Superb by Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The price of the Skoda Superb is already on the higher side of the segment and so raising it further puts it in competition with the other premium brands. 

2020 Skoda Superb Engine

The engine on this vehicle will be a  2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This new 2.0 Litre TSI engine will be a BS6 compliant engine that will be seen in the May 2020 launch. The current 1.8 litre whether will be continued is yet to be confirmed. This engine will also make its way on the Skoda Kodiaq which will make it BS6 compliant. This new 2.0 engine is available in the form of Octavia RS230 and makes a power of 230 bhp. Octavia will be made available with and Octavia RS245 producing a power of 245 bhp. This vehicle will soon arrive with a new BS6 compliant engine. The vehicle is expected to come with a seven-speed automatic gearbox that will power the front wheels. 

2020 Skoda Superb Design

The Skoda Supers has a very modern and elegant design. The rear will have Skoda badging across the boot. The rear glass area will be wide and large. The C-pillar will be wide and might obstruct some view while parking. The tail lamps will be completely LED unit and there will be a chrome strip running across which will visually connect the two lamps. The creases on the rear boot will be clear and sharp. The Skoda badging will be running across the boot with the new Skoda logo at the centre. 

The exhaust will have chrome tips and they will be on both ends of the bumper. This gives a racy look to the vehicle. Also the exhaust note on the higher revs will sound grunty as seen on the Octavia RS. Moving to the side the shoulder line will continue into the tail lamp portion which will be nice and sharp. The door handles will be placed below it. The wheels will be 16 inch wheels with circular wheel arches. There will be no change in the platform and the wheel base which result in the dimensions on the vehicle to remain the same. The window area will be nice and large and the rear seat will also feel comfortable and airy. The ORVMs will have a sharp angles and this will add some character to the vehicle. The roof of the vehicle will have a shark fin antenna.

The front of the vehicle remains the same as the previous generations. The grill will be the new Skoda grill which will take the shape of the headlamps. The lights will have a projector setup with LED daytime running lights on it. The lower bumper of the vehicle will also continue on the sharp lines of the vehicles design language. The front windscreen will be large and wide.

2020 Skoda Superb Interiors

The Skoda Superb interiors are very premium. The inside rear view mirror is frame less and it gets an auto dimming feature. There might be a sunlight holder above it with SOS and roadside assitance button over it. The light on off toggles are on the light itself. The centre console gets a floating infotainment system which is continues the shape of the AC vents.  The centre console gets the controls for the AC and below it, there is a drive mode selector. The centre armrest doubles as a storage compartment.

It also will have a cooled function. The steering is a 3 spoke steering with steering mounted controls for the infotainment system and the driver infotainment system. The steering could be adjustable for reach as well as rake. The seats might get a cooled function which will result into restriction over the customization of the seat cover material. The glove box will also be cooled. We expect a 360 degree parking camera for this vehicle.

2020 Skoda Superb Safety

The safety of the Skoda Superb holds up well to the latest crash testing and was awarded the maximum five-star score by the independent safety experts at Euro NCAP. The vehicle get 2 airbags standard. Along with this it gets an optional variant of seven airbags. The Skoda Superb will get traction control which will make sure that the 200 bhp of power is put down with ease.

We might see a new red colour on this vehicle this year.

2020 Skoda Superb Competition

The vehicle competes with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. This segment of the vehicle is pretty close to the premium vehicle and so the price and feature combination plays a very improtant role.
