Hyundai i20 2020 – its coming soon.

Or atleast it seems so. Many of our subscribers have spotted this new premium hatchback being tested in India. It has been spotted multiple times on the Yamuna Expressway and even the Gurgaon NH8 traffic. One of our subscribers did spot the i20 very recently and was kind enough to share images with us. The new i20 2020 will be an exciting product to be offered in the Indian car market.

This was technically the first successful premium hatchback in India. The i20 launched back in 2009 didn’t set the charts on fire when it was launched. The second generation in 2014 was the one that ignited the segment. All of a sudden, most auto makers started seeing this segment with a lot of importance. Today, it has about 12% market share – when we speak of the premium hatchbacks. As the i20 has completed its time space, well almost it is now time for an upgrade in this segment.

It is a bit too early to share the exact specifications and features, but here is what is expected from the new i20 2020. To begin with, it will have projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights. The new i20 will also go to offer premium features on the inside. There shall be connected cars tech – the one that Hyundai looks like Bluelink. The other new additional expected features are wireless charging, sunroof and a larger touchscreen. The engines on offer will be the 1.2-litre petrol and there shall also be a 1.5-litre diesel. The current 1.4-litre diesel won’t be continuing with the new BS6 emissions from April 2020. The i20 will have manual and automatic options on the petrol and the diesel might get an AMT as well.

At the moment, it is a bit too early to speak on the launch of the i20, but this new premium hatchback should come in by late 2020. We will share more details on it when we get closer to the timeline. In terms of pricing, there will not be a major change, it will be about Rs 6.5 lakhs to Rs 9.5 lakhs. In terms of variants, there will be Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta.
