Volkswagen Rs 11 lakh Subcompact SUV expected

A teaser was released by Volkswagen last week in which they showcased a vehicle which was smaller than the T-cross. This shows that Volkswagen is all set to enter the market of the Sub-compact SUVs. The name of the vehicle was revealed as the Volkswagen Nivus. This segment of the vehicle will also have the Renault HBC which will arrive in the mid of the year 2020. The vehicle will also have a new coupe-style design which will be an interesting new look for the conventional SUV look. The Volkswagen Rs 11 lakh SUV will be a really interesting vehicle for India as it is made on the platform which might be available in India.

Volkswagen will launch the vehicle internationally in the second quarter of the year. As it is a global product it will be based on the MQB A0 platform. The vehicle will be of the smallest SUV-coupes in the market. The launch of this vehicle in India is not seen in the near future. This vehicle will first be launched in Brazil.

Volkswagen Rs 11 lakh SUV Price

As of now, there is a price reveal on this vehicle. We expect this car to be priced at Rs 11 lakhs. This will be the price if the model ever makes it to India. Internationally the cost will differ by Rs 1 lakh. The pricing of this vehicle will be below the Volkswagen T-Cross. The car will be smaller than the T-Cross. It will enter the very competitive market of the sub-compact SUVs which is already very price sensitive. The price will also be a part of the marketing strategy for this vehicle. 

Volkswagen Rs 11 lakh SUV Engine

The engine on this vehicle will be the 1.0L TSI petrol engine. This engine will be borrowed from the Volkswagen polo which is the car people associate with the name Volkswagen in India. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox which will put down the power to the wheel. The power by this engine that will go to the wheels will be 115 bhp and the torque will be 200 Nm. This combo seems like a well-balanced combo for a vehicle like this. The option of a diesel engine is not sure, but if it does come with a diesel engine then it might be the same engine as on the polo.

The interiors of this car will be a bit sporty. The dashboard will be sloping but the incline won’t be large. It will have a very acute split angle. The centre console will be slightly tilted towards the driver’s side.

The driver’s seat is expected to get 10-way electric adjustability. There might be the use of leather on the seats. A contrast body colours stitch might be used on that. The instrument cluster is expected to be taken from the Volkswagen T-Cross. Even the stocks and the AC design element will look like they have straight come from the Volkswagen T-Cross.

In the second row of seats, we expect there to be some lack of headroom. As Volkswagen has displayed in the teaser that this vehicle will have a sloping roofline. This will definitely result in a lack of space at the rear. This boot space will depend on the overhang that is provided for the vehicle. If this vehicle makes it to India it will have a smaller wheelbase or a shorter overhang. As cutting down the overhang is the more cost-effective way of keeping it under 4 meters we expect the manufacturers to do that.

The front of this vehicle will look like any other Volkswagen vehicles. It will have a wide Volkswagen grille.

This grill will be cladded with a Volkswagen badging at the centre. The bonnet will not have any sharp creases. The lights will get a projector setup and they will continue in the size of the grill. The vehicle will also have fog lamps. The side profile of the vehicle looks big because of it smaller height. Traditional SUV fans will have a bit of a tough time accepting it as an SUV. The vehicle also gets small roof rails which look functional. All over the vehicle gets black cladding to increase it rugged look. The vehicle gets bigger tyres which are made to look small because of squared wheel arches. Even the height of the vehicle will be low and this might raise the issue of ground clearance. The window area of the car at the rear is small because of the sloping roof.

The car will get a lot of features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle will also get a big 7-inch touch screen. It will have a Volkswagen connect system which will provide a connection to the car and the mobile of the user. It will also get 360 camera as well as parking sensors. The international model will get more features than the India spec model.

The vehicle will have safety features like electronic brake distribution and ABS. This will be paired with an electronic parking brake which will also assist the hill-hold system. The vehicle will also have 2 airbags standard and there will be a provision of pillar airbags for higher models.
