The 2020 KTM 250 Adventure might be unvieled at IBW this week!

Rajiv Bajaj had said that they will launch the KTM 390 Adventure in 2019 little did we know that this bike will be launched alongside its smaller sibling 2020 KTM 250 Adventure. This bike will be like the quench the thirst of the adventure aspirant who was not satisfied with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Hero Xpulse. Maybe the Adventure twins that KTM is planning to launch in India by the end of this year will be the answer to this thirst.

2020 KTM 250 Adventure Launch

The launch of the 250 Adventure will have sole one purpose. This bike will target at making the Adventure offering from KTM affordable. The KTM 390 Adventure will be a completely loaded bike and it will have a slew of electronic aids that will make its offroad and on-road capabilities at another level. This 2020 KTM 250 Adventure will skip on that and will give a bare minimum bike with the same looks and the design language. The launch of this bike will be done together with the launch of the KTM 390 Adventure. The launch is expected to take place at the IBW this week. 

2020 KTM 250 Adventure Price

The price of this vehicle will be around Rs 2.30 lakhs. This puts it above the regular Duke 250 by Rs 40000. The cost of this bike will make it a much more expensive offering over the Royal Enfield Himalayan which is a bike that some of the speed junkies have avoided buying because of its weight. But when it comes to the price there is no argument that unless the product is strong there won’t be a strong number in the number of buyers. As far as KTM fans are to be considered they will love this change from the street naked segment that KTM has been dominating from the start of its life. We will talk further ahead in the article about how KTM decides to get the price lowered from the 390 Adventure.

2020 KTM 250 Adventure Engine

The engine of the 2020 KTM 250 Adventure will be exactly the same as that of the duke 250. There won’t be mechanical changes in terms of engine power figure it will make more torque by using a bigger rear sprocket. The gearing might also be tuned to some different level so that the bike gets a wider torque band. Overall the engine will produce a power of 31 bhp and the torque will be 21 Nm. This bike will not get much of engine monitoring gizmos which will be seen on the KTM 390 Adventure. This bike might also not get a ride by wire throttle because of which it will skip on Engine maps and Traction control too. The engine is the core of the vehicle will not be fiddled with much. People have loved this engine on the Duke 250 and KTM will want people to buy this bike with the same confidence in that engine. 

Technically speaking the engine is an oversquare layout, therefore, the torque generation on this engine is a bit low and it comes at very high revs. This will be the only reason why the bike will not be an offroader in true sense. The low-end torque that is required during off-road situations will not be available on this vehicle but overall it will be fun to ride the bike on tours.

2020 KTM 250 Adventure Design

The basic structure of the motorcycle remains the same as the vehicle makes us of the same trellis frame as that of the KTM duke 250. The suspension will be changed to long-travel suspension by WP. These will be upside-down fork which is very skeptical on an adventure motorcycle. The adjustability will be given for preload at the rear and the front suspension will be non adjustable. The bike will skip on these adjustability factors to make it very accessible. The bike will have a slightly higher seat height than the KTM 250 Duke but it will also be bigger in size. This bike will not be as compact as the Duke 250. The seats will be longer and more comfortable. The rider will be able to move around a bit while riding the bike. The exhaust of the bike will be side-mounted and it will be the same as the Duke 250. The rear grab handle will have top box mounts. The bike will also get provisions for panniers and other touring accessories. All this is expected to be sold separately by the bike. The front headlight is a debatable topic as far as design is concerned. The angle made by those headlights is a bit awkward but its utility can be seen in the practicality. We don’t expect the vehicle to get LED headlamps but the daytime running light strip will be LED. The rear taillights will be LED as well as the indicators. The handlebar will be a bit raised and flatter. All these changes will just benefit while riding on soft off-road trails.

2020 KTM 250 Adventure Safety

The safety feature on this bike will be basic like ABS. It will be a switchable unit that will have options of turning off both ABS separately. This will be advised as the keeping ABS on while going offroad. The Safety features of the bike will also have a stronger trellis frame which will improve stability

2020 KTM 250 Adventure Competition

The major competition of the 2020 KTM 250 Adventure in terms of the price will compete with the Royal Enfield Himalyan. Other Adventure bikes in this segments are Hero Xpulse and the BMW 310 GS.
