A compact SUV is already being planned by the brands competitor and new brand – Kia Motors India. The car will be made using the existing platform and technology of the Hyundai Venue. This is an easy way for Kia to increase its portfolio in the Indian market. MG will have to counter with something quickly. MG has a plan to get the eZS electric SUV first, followed by a Creta competition SUV and then a compact SUV. MG will also get a hatchback for India. Kia plans to get a seven-seater in the form of the Carnival and to compete with MG’s big SUV – the D90 Maxus.

The price of the MG sub-four meter SUV will be competitive. It will be a car that will compete with a wider range of players in the market. MG will also make sure that at the same time it comes with more features and is available with connected car technology like the Hyundai Venue in this class. MG will want to sprinkle more goodies to make sure that it is competing with the Kia sub-four meter SUV car on the same level. The car will get both petrol and diesel options. It will be interesting to see which BS6 compliant engines do the manufacturer’s source. The pricing should be on par with the Mahindra XUV300 which is the most expensive offering in the segment.

Like we said above, MG first needs to get more engine options for us to know what they could use in future products. In terms of design, we think MG will use the Hector and the Baijon 510 or the upcoming Creta completion SUV for design inspiration. MG will also make sure that it will get LED headlamps, taillamps, and a panoramic sunroof.
