Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV is based on the Hyundai Venue

There has been a lot speculation on what the Kia sub-four meter SUV was going to be. Last week we told yall that the car was internally going to be codenamed – QYi. But what is it? What platform? What specs? We had no idea. It seems now with the spy shots and multiple sighting of the car we can confirm that the car is being tested on the Hyundai Venue platform. Is it the Venue? Is it a rebadge job? What to expect? Below we explain.

Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV Launch

The launch of this vehicle is expected to take place anywhere between February 2020 to May 2020. Kia might have a ready production version of this car to show at the Auto Expo in 2020 too. We will have to wait and find out. But in the meantime, it has been seen on the road while being tested. The launch might get delayed due to the BS6 emission norms. As of now, Kia hasn’t even announced anything about the vehicle. The launch will be declared once the company reveals the vehicle. This will take place only when the production of the vehicle starts.

This sub-four meter SUV will be the third launch by the company. The Seltos has already been launched and the company is planning to launch the Grand Carnival next. This means that the company will launch this smaller SUV after the Auto Expo 2020. The codenamed QYi will share its platform with the Hyundai Venue and this makes it easier to build within India. The probable launch date will be around July 2020.

Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV Price

It is too early to talk about the pricing of this vehicle. The Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV will be priced close to the Hyundai Venue, the car it seems to be rumored to be based on. For now, the Venue is priced at Rs 6.65 lakhs to Rs 11.11 lakhs. To beat this price Kia has to start its prices below Rs 6 lakhs and have enough variants to make itself more exciting than the variant setup of Hyundai Venue. So we expect that the car will be priced at Rs 6.5 lakhs to Rs 7 lakhs at the base and will go up to Rs 11 lakhs or Rs 12 lakhs for the top end.

Another major hurdle in terms of determining the price of the car will be looking at the competition. The Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon are priced really good variant-wise. The car will have to get over them to reach its sibling – the Venue to make itself relevant in the segments fight.

Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV Specifications

The engine of this SUV will be the same as in the Hyundai Venue. Currently, the engine configurations offered will include –

• The 1.2 litre with a 5-speed manual transmission is the petrol option. There is no option of an Automatic transmission on this engine.
• The second option is the 1.0-litre petrol engine. This engine is a sportier option.  This will get a DCT option and will probably be called the GT-Line version.
• There will be only one engine configuration with diesel fuel options. This will be the 1.4-litre engine. It comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. These engine options will make the give the buyer’s good choice. The diesel engine will be equipped with a turbocharger. An
• All engine options will be BS6 compliant from day

In terms of dimensions, the capacity and overall configurations it will be interesting to see how close it comes to the Hyundai Venue in terms of all that. Our bet is the wheelbase of the car will be the same if it’s based on the Venue, Kia might want to change other dimensions and add signature flourishes to the car.

Kia 8 Lakh SUV Safety

In terms of safety, the Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV will be well thought of. Safety features should include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), TCS (Traction control system), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), BAS (Brake-Assist System), 360-degree camera and rear and front parking sensors.

This has been standard on the Seltos and we will see it on this compact SUV as well. Now knowing that the car is based on the Hyundai Venue – this car will follow the same pedestrian safety parameters.

Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV Features

The SUV will be made on the lines of the Hyundai Venue and Seltos. The Venue is already a loaded package. Some of the features could include:

Some of the above-stated features could be segment-first options in the sub-four meter range. Just like the Venue gets the Blue Link connected car feature, we could see UVO, the Kia connected car technology come to the Seltos.

The Kia SUV will be available in new colors for dual-tone. This will also get a special color for GT line.

Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV Mileage

Both the engines offered on the vehicle will give a decent mileage of 18 to 24 km/l. Again we have to wait for the official performance figures of the car. Kia has shown its performance side with the GT-line models of the Seltos.

Kia Rs 8 Lakh SUV Competition

It will directly compete against the likes of another sub-four meter SUVs on sale in India like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Vitara Brezza.
