2020 Hyundai i20 Active getting ready for BS6 launch – Spy Shots

The 2020 Hyundai i20 Active will be a BS6 updated version of the vehicle. The car will get a new engine and some minor changes in cosmetics. The car will also feature some changes in the interiors. All these changes will be explained further ahead in the article. For now, the vehicle has been spotted while being tested for 2020.

2020 Hyundai i20 Active Launch

The launch of the vehicle will be paired with the launch of the regular i20. The car will serve as a more rough use vehicle than the i20. The vehicle will be launched in the month of April 2020. The testing has already begun and the vehicle will get its emission norms approval soon. Hyundai might give this vehicle some major changes in the interior but all this will be confirmed after the launch. There is a slight chance that this vehicle might be showcased at the Auto Expo too.

The price of the vehicle will be at Rs 9 lakhs. This pricing might make it kill some sales of the Grand i10 Nios which is a premium product in it self. People will have to make a choice between luxury and Practicality. The i20 Active is a vehicle that’s built for tough terrain. At this price, the vehicle is pretty exclusive and has a niche of its own. 

2020 Hyundai i20 Active Interiors

The interiors of the i20 Active will change and be based on Hyundai’s new design language. This design language is seen in the new Elantra. The i20 Active will get the same Instrument cluster as the Hyundai Elantra. It will be completely digital, this will make it customisable. The A/C vent design will be taken from the Grand i10 Nios. The new steering column will be Hyundai’s flat-bottom steering. The gear lever and the centre console will be the same as the old gen car. 

2020 Hyundai i20 Active Exteriors

On the exterior, the Hyundai i20 Active will get a new design for the daytime running lights. There won’t be a boomerang-shaped LED. The car will get a sharp front face and the Headlamps will be Projector LED. The rear tail lights will be LED lamps. The car will take the alloy wheel design from the Grand i10 Nios. Active will get bigger size tyres and it will get higher ground clearance.

  The vehicle will look like a Crossover. It will get roof rails which are finished in black. There will be dual-tone treatment all over the vehicle.

The shape of the grill will change and it will be much wider. The front will get a front diffuser and the car will look much better with a bold stance. The design of the vehicle will give it a bolder and crossover stance. The C pillar of the vehicle will have a black treatment. The rear door handle might change position to the place of the rear quarter glass.

2020 Hyundai i20 Active Engine

The Hyundai i20 Active will make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. One can expect the Hyundai i20 Active and Elite, both, to get a BS IV-compliant engine. The 1.0L turbo-petrol engine from the Hyundai Venue is a perfect choice. This engine delivers the power of 120ps and torque of 172Nm while mating with a 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed DCT system.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 Active could also get a 1.5L diesel engine. This engine, developed by Kia for Seltos delivers the power of 115ps and torque of 250Nm. It mates with a variable geometry turbocharger on the Kia Seltos. However, the Hyundai i20 Elite could get a fixed geometry turbocharger with a lower tuning to keep the price in check.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 Active might even continue with the existing 1.2L petrol engine that delivers 83ps power and 115Nm torque. This engine mates with an optional CVT or a 5-speed manual gearbox.

This engine option could keep the entry pricing point at a low level.

The Hyundai i20 Active is a safe car. This vehicle will have Safety measures. The vehicle will have Anti-lock Braking System which will be combined with an electronic braking system which will make it safe to drive. The car will also have Smart paddle which will override the accelerator while braking. The vehicle also has other basic safety features like Anti-pinch windows, Rear Defogger, impact sensing door unlocks, Headlamp escort function and reverse parking camera and sensors.

The i20 Active will be available in single tone as well as dual-tone colours. These will include

Hyundai i20 Active Competition

This vehicle doesn’t have a direct comparison. The vehicle in terms of price competes with the Maruti Baleno and Glanza which are basically the same vehicle.
