Hyundai Santro 2020 will get a new colour for the year

The Santro name is legendary. Hyundai’s first car in India and the first one that tasted major success was the Santro. The car broke the market majority of Maruti and ushered in a new set of buyers. In 2018 when Hyundai was celebrating 20 years of presence in India the Santro was launched as it was the car that was launched first by the Korean company. Now that Hyundai has made its place with the Hyundai Santro 2019 let’s find out what will be the changes in the Hyundai Santro 2020.  The Hyundai Santro 2019 gets a variant reshuffle over last years model. The engine remains the same, which was the revised version of the Epsilon 4 cylinder engine that powered the original Santro.

Hyundai Santro 2020 Launch

The BS6 version of the Santro will come around the month of January 2020. This will be the same petrol engine which will be made BS6 compliant. There will be some price change. The cost of the BS6 Santro will see some drop in sales of the Santro.

Hyundai Santro 2020 Price

Currently, the Santro is priced at Rs 4.15 lakhs to Rs 5.68 lakhs. The price of the vehicle will increase with the introduction of BS6. This vehicle will get BS6 compliance from January. As it is available only in petrol engine making it BS6 compliant won’t be a big task. It will still cost some money. There an increase of 15,000 expected on each variant. The variants on this vehicle won’t change any further. They have already dropped 2 variants this year and replaced it with one.

Hyundai Santro 2020 Interior

The Santro will continue the elephant based theme. The vehicle will look funky from inside and give that Gen Z feels. This will also attract first time buyers. The interiors will remain clean. There will be an introduction of new color and the theme of the colour will be continued inside. The colour will be seen around the AC vents and the surrounding gear stick. It will also continue around the doors and the dash.

The speedometer will be a dual analog unit along with a backlit screen for clock and the trip meter. The fuel indicator will also be a part of it. The infotainment system of the vehicle will have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Along with this there will also be a Start-Stop button. The tall boy design of the vehicle will give it plenty of headroom. This will, in turn, make the car feel spacious and airy.

Hyundai Santro 2020 Exterior

The exterior of the Santro won’t get any major changes. The car will be in its third year after the launch of a new generation and there is no need to change the way it looks. The looks are fresh and are in line with Hyundai’s new design language. The vehicle gets Hyundai’s new headlamp shape. The grille at the front is wider and bigger. There is a lot of space between the hood and the grille. This space features a big and bold Hyundai logo.

The Fog lamps are like brackets to the Grill and surround it completely. The one change that could be seen will be the introduction of LED’s in some places. The ORVMs get turn indicators on them. There is a hint of chrome around the grille. The Basic variant gets black colour body cladding as well as mirrors. From the side, the vehicle looks like an older i10. The car has lines on the body which make it look modern and stylish. The wheels are a bit of a smaller size and make the car look under tyred. But the vehicle gives great mileage because of the small wheels. The Santro has been designed such that it has a lot of space and will be light too. All this adds up to the peppy performance and good mileage.

Hyundai Santro 2020 Engine

For now, there are two engines on offer with this vehicle. Basically on is 1.1 petrol and the other one is also a 1.1 CNG tuned. It is not a different engine just the tuning is for CNG. You can run both the engines on Petrol only. The petrol engine produces a power of 69 bhp and the CNG produces 59 bhp. The torque output is 99 Nm and 86 Nm respectively. They get a  transmission is refined and is offered in 5 speed for the manual and 4 speed for the automatic. The efficiency of the AMT is also good.

Hyundai Santro 2020 Safety

For Safety the car is offered with 2 airbags as standard on every variant. It will also get High strength steel with 63% AHSS 25HSS. There are parking sensors paired along with a reverse parking camera. The rear glass gets a defogger which is a nice touch. The doors have speed-sensing locks. This vehicle is provided with seatbelt pre-tensioners too.

There is a chance of a new colour to be introduced in the vehicle. This will be a new fresh key colour for the year. For now, the vehicle is available in 7 colours.

The Hyundai Santro 2019 will rival the Wagon R, Celerio and mainly the hot selling Tata Tiago. It could become the market leader in this segment.
