2020 KIA Carnival bookings open ahead of its January launch

KIA has introduced its Seltos in India this year and has created a mark in the Indian market. They have slowly started to gain the trust of Indian citizens. Now they have decided to introduce an MPV in our level. This vehicle was showcased at 2018 auto expo and now there is a new of it to arrive in the Indian markets. The vehicle is a luxury SUV and will be an overload on space and comfort. The 2020 KIA Carnival will be a part of Indian line up next. Read ahead to know about the design elements.

2020 KIA Carnival Launch

The launch of this KIA Carnival will be around the month of April 2020. This car will directly launch after the BS6 norms are active. The Vehicle will sport a BS6 engine. There are more details about the engine further ahead in the report. 

2020 KIA Carnival Booking

After the launch of the KIA Seltos, the company is all set to launch the KIA Carnival. This vehicle’s launch is scheduled in January 2020. But there are reports from some sources that the unofficial bookings of the KIA Carnival have been opened up. The vehicle will be available in 2 avatars and 3 seat configurations. The booking amounts of the vehicle vary from dealer to dealers.

2020 KIA Carnival Price

The price of the KIA carnival will be between Rs 22 lakh to Rs 30 lakhs. The vehicle will slot above the Innova Crysta. This car will be its primary rival and it’s a big risk by KIA to put their second car in the market against a segment king. They seem pretty confident with their product and might use the success of the Carnival to gain more people’s trust. This vehicle supposedly won’t get a GT line variant at the launch so as to keep the price bracket tight. The GT line will be introduced later to compete with the Innova touring sport.

KIA Carnival Engine

For now, there is no confirmation on the engine that will be used on the KIA Carnival. The international model of the vehicle is sold with a 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol unit is a 3.3 MPi unit. There are chances that the KIA carnival will be sold with the only diesel engine. If at all petrol is introduced with this vehicle it will be either shared with the Seltos or borrowed from Hyundai. The 2.2 litre diesel engine produces 196 bhp of power which is supported by a torque of 441 Nm. The transmission will be a 6-speed automatic which either will be a CVT or a DCT. KIA, if wants to keep the competition tight then, will have to sell the vehicle with a manual transmission at least on a base variant. 

2020 KIA Carnival Mileage

As there is no confirmation on the engine mileage can not be pinpointed but the approximate mileage should be in the range of the Innova Crysta. This will be around 10km/l – 12km/l. The engine will get some technology for fuel monitoring. It also will get modes like sport, comfort and eco on the automatic variant.

KIA Carnival Exterior

The Carnival is Exterior is SUV has been a boxy stance. It has chunky exterior and looks like a typical utility vehicle. The grille is a honeycomb mesh type and gets a chrome finish. It gets air-intakes which also house the car’s fog lamps. The car features a pulled back design on the headlights as well as taillights. The bonnet is low slung and has prominent lines. The wheels have multi-spoked alloys which make it look visually luxurious.

Proportionally, the KIA Grand Carnival measures 5,115mm in length, 1,985mm in width, 1,755mm in height and it sits on a 3,060mm long wheelbase. These dimensions make it very similar to the Toyota Innova Crysta.

KIA Carnival Interior

The cabin of this vehicle has ample amount of space. Every passenger can seat comfortably. The vehicle comes with an option of 7 or 8 seats. The international spec model gets ventilated seats. This feature is growing slowly and can be seen on the Seltos too. The Carnival gets electric tailgate. In addition to this, it also gets engine start-stop, three-zone climate control and premium cloth seats. The interior of this vehicle is beige and this makes the cabin feel very airy. The vehicle differs in one aspect is it has sliding doors for the second row. Although these doors are practical and useful but they rob the show of the vehicle. The material on the seat is stain resistant and the second row gets stand-up seats. The stand-up seats feature can make the seat completely 180 flat and parallel to the front row. This makes more room for storage. The last row will get a traditional 60:40 split.

2020 KIA Carnival Safety

Talking about safety the KIA Carnival is loaded with safety features. To start with it is built on advanced high strength steel. Airbags system, front and rear parking camera, 360 camera and rear traffic alert system. All of these features might not make it to India spec model but this will get most of the safety tits bits. The Carnival also gets lane change assist, forward collision warning system and high beam headlight assist among others.

2020 KIA Carnival Competition

The Kia Carnival will go head-on with the Innova Crysta. On comparing price it will also face competition from the Mahindra Marrazzo and Renault Lodgy. The vehicle if gets a GT line then that variant will compete with the Innova touring sport.
