Toyota Innova is a vehicle that replaced the Toyota Qualis. This vehicle when entered the market looked modern and attracted the Qualis customers. Toyota Innova was synonymous to traveling in comfort. In a few years the travel industry where the Qualis was dominating was soon ruled by Toyota Innova. It offered the same reliability and add more comfort. The engine was also powerful. This is how Innova entered into the Indian market. But entering in the market is not just enough. Toyota has been selling the Innova for a long time now. It is a car in their fleet which fetches the maximum revenue from the Indian market. This car has gone through a number of facelifts and now finally we have the second generation Innova, The Toyota Innova Crysta. So scroll down to find out why does the Innova Crysta sell so well.

Engine reliability

The name Toyota is synonymous to reliability, especially engine reliability. The biggest key point of the engine of a toyota is that it is a 2.0 litre engine this is bigger than the engine on the Qualis. It is even power and is a torque monster. Even the petrol engine has a torque of 245Nm at 4000 rpm. All this power and torque translates into engine’s versatility. This car can be used to climb steep ghats or go high altitudes. This can be clearly seen at the Leh Ladhakh ride where a rampant use of this car can be seen. Being a Toyota engine its quality and fit finish is up to the mark. There are not even a very few instances where there has been a major issue with the engine.

Toyota Innova Crysta Comfort

While providing versatility, Toyota has not compromised on comfort. This vehicle provides top of the class comfort. First, there is a considerably less body roll on this vehicle than compared to other vehicles in this segment. The car has a good ground clearance which is of 193 mm. In addition to this, the suspension is very compliant and the vehicle tends to soak up almost all the bumps and potholes that Indian roads have to offer. The overall ride quality is great and there is no competition that comes close to this. Because of a bigger 2.0 litre engine, the vehicle also offers a good Air Conditioning unit. It gets climate control with a dual zone for the front as well as rear AC vents for both the rows separately. The car cools off in no time. Seat in the second row has one touch fold system which works flawlessly and is easy to operate. Cooking points for Toyota to make the button for that noticeable by placing it right on the top of the seat.

Seating configuration

Toyota Innova Crysta third row seats

It’s debatable if it’s a good reputation, but most of the sales of the Toyota Innova Crysta come for the travel industry. This is majorly because the vehicle offers the maximum seating configuration right from the basic variant. The G variant which is the base variant gets the option of 8 seaters. This is offered with 60:40 split seat and one touch tumble. The third row gets an easy one touch easy space up option. Also, there is customization offered if any user wants captain sets in the second row. The option of seat recline is available on the 2nd and 3rd row in the 7 seater version. This vehicle can also be a 5 seater camping vehicle by folding off the seats in the last row to load a lot of luggage. There are headrests in all the rows for all the passengers. In addition to this, the topmost variant gets electronic adjustments for the driver’s seat.

Safety

The current generation of the Toyota Innova Crysta complies with the safety norms. ABS is standard on all variants. There are 3 airbags for the basic variant which include driver knee airbag. Along with this, the Z trim gets 7 airbags. All passengers are offered functional seat belts with adjustable heights at the front. Iso-fix mounts are also available. Keeping apart the while driving safety the car also offers a lot of security features. It has an immobilizer as well as a siren standard on all variants but also ultrasonic sensors and glass break sensors on the higher variants. The vehicle gets 4 star NCAP rating which is highly commendable in terms of safety.

Value for money

The Innova Crysta is a vehicle that is priced from 15 lakhs to 22 lakhs. The basic variant with 8 seats sells for 14.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). This means on the road the car might go for 15.5 lakhs. At this price gets an 8 seater car which looks good, has a good badge value and offers great reliability. The mileage on this vehicle is not the strongest point here but it offers a decent 11.25 km/l on petrol and 15 km/l on diesel. Its gets a large tank of 65 litres which can be used for touring. I’m some way this car manages to hit the sweet spot of being a good tourer while offering good comfort in the city. Plus the automatic gearbox with sequential shifts is also a smooth one and doesn’t have much of a lag.
