Rolls-Royce is going in for a major upgrade for its cars and the next generation Rolls-Royce cars will be based on an all-new, fully aluminum modular platform.

The new platform will underpin all future models from the British car brand. The upcoming 2016 Phantom will be the first model to use the new architecture. It will continue to be offered in standard as well as extended wheelbase versions.

The 2016 Rolls-Royce Phantom is expected to have crisper and more imposing looks , with a thanks to a taller front grille and a more sculpted front end with rectangular headlamps, that will mark the new generation limousine. In addition, other changes include bolder C-pillars and more flowing flanks with a longer character line.

Following the Phantom, the next model to get the all-aluminum platform will be a new SUV from Rolls-Royce  called the Project Cullinan. This SUV will be launched in 2017 and will share parts like axles, brakes and all-wheel-drive system from the forthcoming BMW X7.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost will thereafter follow suit and the aluminium platform will underpin this car too. There are also rumours of an all new sedan from Rolls-Royce which is expected to be comparable to the BMW 7 series in size.
