Hyundai Motor Group has developed the first ASC. This is a technology that will be used in the hybrid car.

This will be shared with Kia too.It is a system that controls transmission and provides faster gear shift.

Faster gear shift results in a reduction in loss of power. Hence, in turn, it will not require more power. This will save fuel. The new system optimizes the gear shift pattern 500 times per second. This will be seen adjusting the transmission for faster shift speeds.

ASC applies new control logic software to the Hybrid Control Unit (HCU), which then controls the electric motor to align the rotational speeds of the engine and transmission to reduce gear shift time by 30%. The technology also delivers smoother gear changes despite quicker shift times.

“The development of world’s first ASC technology is a remarkable innovation which incorporates precise motor control to automatic transmission,” said KyoungJoon Chang, Vice President and Head of Powertrain Control System Group of Hyundai Motor Group, “It will not only save fuel but also provide a more fun driving experience for our customers.”

With the active shift control technology, it synchronizes the rotational speed of the engine and the transmission in order to reduce gear shift times. With this synchronization system, there is a 30% reduce seen. This is dropped 500ms to 350ms. This improves acceleration and performance as well as fuel economy. The durability of the transmission is also increased due to this new technology

This technology will now be seen both on Hyundai as well as Kia cars. It is a big innovation towards building a better vehicle that will reduce its carbon footprint. This also adds up to the fuel conservation in this year and age.
