Citroen is planning to launch 4 models in India by 2023. The first one is supposedly the C5 Aircross in 2020. The French carmaker is entering the Indian market for the first time with a compact SUV in 2020 and expanding its range of products along the line. Above all, a report says that there will be a rival for the Hyundai Creta in 2022 as its 3rd product in the Indian market. So what will be the Citroen Creta SUV about?

Citroen Creta SUV Launch

The car will not be launched before 2023. However, Citroen will first bring the Aircross and focus on that. They will then bring a smaller SUV at the Creta price point and one product for the sub-four meter range. Citroen will also get a hatchback but there is not much clarity on that.

The Creta SUV will be priced between Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 18 lakhs. This is the price range of the Creta and Citroen will not want to go higher than that.

This upcoming model by Citroen will be based on a variation of the international model C4 Cactus which will serve as a direct competition to the Hyundai Creta. Therefore, the major catch is that the product will be made for Indian specifications and will be localized, this will increase its chances to be very competitively priced. It will retain Citroen’s quirky styling as it is seen in other products in the market of this company.

Citroen Creta SUV Engine

The power plant seems to be powered by the same engine as the Citroen’s compact SUV. The engine will consist of a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that will churn out 131bhp and 230Nm of tore and a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine (131PS/300Nm). There is also a chance of a hybrid mill to turn up on this car which can help it get passed in 2023 RDE or real-world driving emission tests. The transmission of this car might be a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic.

Citroen Creta SUV Competition
