2020 Hyundai i20 will share some features with the Hyundai Elantra – New Spyshots

The 2020 Hyundai i20 has been spotted testing again. The car was spotted in North America and let’s just say the design of the new 2020 i20 is looking very promising. The car is going to mostly make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The dimension of the new car also seems visually larger than the previous car. We will see a lot of new technology and a change in dimensions, features, a new engine and gearbox plus, Hyundai could offer the new i20 with a hybrid system as well. Blue Link technology will be offered to make the car more loaded with tech. The car will also be donning a SPORTIER design which in turn will enhance it’s appeal.

The all-new model was being tested along with the next-gen 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 near the company’s Sriperumbudur plant in India too. Check out the latest spy shots below.

2020 Hyundai i20 Spyshots

The upcoming model of the i20 will have LED rear tail lamps. These lights resemble the lights of the Hyundai Elantra. The rear of this car looks wider than the current generation. This might result in increase in space at the rear seat. The shape of the ORVM has also become sharp. The car looks totally in sync with Hyundai’s new design language.

2020 Hyundai i20 Launch

The new Hyundai i20 will be launched next year. It seems like the company has just started testing it and the car will be made available to masses next year only. Hyundai will bring it in a new generation avatar and will make sure that the new i20 is a segment leader in its class. This car will be sportier with this launch. It will be available late this year. This car too might sport the Nios look.

2020 Hyundai i20 Price in India

The price of the Hyundai i20 will be initially a bit more than the current i20 but overall there should not be a huge difference. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will have a base price of Rs 6 lakhs and the top variant can go up to Rs 11 lakhs. This price of the vehicle will see some hike on account of  BS6 engines that will feature in this new launch.

2020 Hyundai i20 Design

Expect a more modern design from Hyundai. There could be a concept that Hyundai shares at an upcoming Auto Show before showing the production car. That will give us a flavor for the new i20 and the design language the company is going to go for. Expect full–LED headlamps and tail lamps in the top end of the car. There will be a new design for the doors, front and rear bumper as well. On the exterior, we some first in class features like a front camera with 360-degree parking. The new i20 will share a lot of its design cues with the Hyundai Sonata.

The vehicle appears to be longer and a tad wider than the model that’s still on sale and we assume this will have a positive impact on the cabin room, especially at the rear seats. The rear end is heavily disguised and so far we can’t tell anything about its design apart from the fact that the taillights feature LED brake lights. The spy pics of the heavily camouflaged 2020 Hyundai i20, posted by Indian Autos Blog, show the rear-end of the vehicle. The premium hatchback looks wider from the back as compared to the current version, which is 1,734 mm in width. We can expect the new premium hatchback to offer more space at the back with a bigger boot.

2020 Hyundai i20 Dimensions

There will be a slight change in the dimensions of the 2020 model car. The older car had the dimensions as mentioned below. The dimensions of the car will be changed to accommodate cosmetic changes. There will be no change ins the seating space in the car. The cosmetic changes will be some changes in the front grille and addition of the daytime running lights.

2020 Hyundai i20 Interiors

On the inside, we will see a bigger touch screen, new instrument cluster, new upholstery and also a new steering wheel. The i20’s space will also be enhanced and we will see options like cooled seats, sunroof and electronically adjustable seats also make it to the Hyundai i20. Apart from all of this. Hyundai could offer the i20 as the second car in their range to be fitted with BluLink. All of this will make the 2020 i20 the most feature-loaded car in its segment.

The upcoming Hyundai i20 is seen as a vehicle that will get a console which will get the new Hyundai console as seen on the Hyundai Elantra. The console consists of the main centre screen which comprises of numerical information like the distance to empty, Trip A and Trip B, Odometer, etc. It gets 2 other dials which consist of a Speedometer and a Tachometer. They are not conventional needle pointers whereas there is a rising bar which makes it feel futuristic.

The international spec model of the vehicle seems to get a different console. The one seen in Korea has a single digital screen with two digital dials for the speedometer and tachometer. It also gets more controls on the steering wheel as well as the wiper stocks are more loaded.

Hyundai i20 Specifications

Engine and gearbox options will be the same. They will be updated for BS6 and will more or less produce the same power. The 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel with an option of a five-speed manual and a six-speed manual respectively. The new generation Hyundai i20 might be the perfect opportunity for the Hyundai N division to enter India, possibly with an N Line or N variant sporting the 1.0L T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine married to the 7-speed DCT. We expect the new model to gain the Kia Picanto’s 1.0-liter turbo mill with 100 bhp and 127 Nm of torque. A new automatic transmission to replace the current four-speed auto would be a welcomed addition as well. In addition to this the comparison of the previous specification of the previous Hyundai i20.
