2019 Kia Seltos LAUNCHED at Rs 9.69 lakhs (ex-showroom), check prices for all variants

Kia Motors India launched the Seltos today, it’s the first product in India for the Korean manufacturer. The 2019 Kia Seltos is already up for bookings and recorded 30,000 plus bookings with 1 in every 5 cars booked online. But let’s now talks about the price which starts at Rs 9.69 lakhs (ex-showroom). The deliveries of this car will start today and the first customer was given the keys to the car at the launch. The car is Kia’s first product and was expected eagerly. The Kia Seltos will mark the brand’s debut into the Indian market with a new SUV. Kia has also taken the decision to introduce a diesel automatic variant in the GT Line trim. Kia Seltos India Price in India

While there were reports that suggested that the price of the 2019 Kia Seltos is going to start near Rs 11 lakhs, we told you that the introductory price for the car could begin from Rs 9.99 lakhs and we were quite close to that price with the car launched at Rs 9.69 lakhs (ex-showroom). This will make the Kia Seltos a very competitive and amazing car to consider. Check out below more to know the price and variants for this brand new car.

The dealers have been instructed to start accepting bookings for 2019 Kia Seltos GTX+DCT too. It will be powered by the 140BHP, 1.4 Litre Turbo Petrol engine. This will be mated to a 7 Speed dual-clutch gearbox.

In addition to theses color, the car will be available in Dual-tone options. The Dual-tone treatment will or will not be continued on the interior is not confirmed yet. There will be 5 dual-tone option for this car.

Kia Seltos Interior

While the interior of the 2019 Kia Seltos India was not shown at the launch now we have a complete layout of the front of the car. With what we could see and the earlier sketches showed, the quality in the Seltos’ cabin appears to be top-class, the dash is dominated by a large 10.25-inch screen which extends all the way to the instrument cluster (very Mercedes Benz). All versions shown to us on unveil had leather seats, a sunroof and it looks like there is a decent amount of space inside the Kia Seltos.

Below images released by Kia show us the mood lighting, the leather pattern on the seats, rear AC vents display, the smart dashboard, first in class heads-up-display and the instrument cluster plus warning lights.

The Seltos will also get a lot of storage space, a cooled glovebox and a large center console. The 2nd row of this SUV will also get a lot of utility in the form of rear AC vents, charging sockets, an armrest and cup holders. The boot space will be ample with a low loading lip. We will have to get a closer look at the interior for more. There should also be a set of fast-charging USB ports.

Also, the Seltos will come with rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, and there will be at least two interior color schemes on offer – all-black and beige-and-black. We expect the production guise to get the standard Kia fare that is present on its SUVs, sedans as well as hatchbacks.

Kia Seltos Review

Kia SELTOS India Design

The 2019 Kia Seltos has all the hallmarks of the latest Kia design language. Dominating the face is the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille which part of Kia’s design language. There are sleek headlamps and silver in color. On to the side, we see the rear sloping roofline, white-colored roof and massive wheels with the multi-spoke alloy wheel design. The appearance is enhanced by the grey cladding that runs all around the base of the Kia SELTOS India as well as over the heavily flared wheel arches. At the rear, it is a mix of elements thanks to the chrome exhaust setup as well as a chrome line that runs across the top section of the body. The chrome also goes through the tail light assembly. To put the design in one word – ‘Aggressive’.

The 17-inch alloy wheels look fab. In terms of the overall look, this SUV seems to be promising. There will be contrast roof, roof rails, LED headlamp and taillamp. A lot shall be offered on this new SUV in style. Let’s see what the company offers in the overall pricing.

Kia SELTOS Features

From the large picture, we can say that the 2019 Kia Seltos SUV gets a big 10.25-inch touchscreen system, a leather-wrapped gear knob and a lot of steering mounted controls. But once one takes a closer look the buttons and the details, the features on this cart get clearer. Some of the upcoming features that we spotted and could come on the Kia SELTOS will be the following –

One of the models on display had a smaller infotainment screen with buttons on each side and drum brakes at the rear (as opposed to disc brakes for all four wheels on the other versions) – a setup that could be offered on the lower-spec models.

Kia SELTOS UVO Connectivity

Keeping up with the recent Connected SUV trend started by the Hyundai Venue and the MG Hector. Kia’s UVO Connect connectivity suite is available in international markets and is similar to the Hyundai Venue‘s BlueLink system in what it has to offer. It gets 37 features under five categories (Navigation, Safety and Security, Vehicle Management, Remote Control and Convenience), the UVO Connect system will offer AI-based voice command, stolen vehicle tracking and immobilisation, safety alerts, remote engine start and stop, auto collision notification and remote control of the air purifier, among other things.

These features are going to be very necessary for the brand to incorporate in their first car. The car is coming soon this summer and this will turn this year into another onslaught of SUVs. The 2019 Kia SELTOS is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs (ex-showroom India). This will make the car highly competitive among its rivals. The car will be feature-packed and is a great car to consider above the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier.

Kia SELTOS India Name

The name ‘Seltos’ is inspired by Greek mythology and the legend of ‘Celtos’ the son of Hercules. Representing the brave and assertive spirit of Celtus, the ‘S’ in the car’s adapted name implies speed, sportiness and strength. The Seltos combines the practicality of a mid-SUV with the capabilities of a traditional SUV – all in a compact package, but without compromises.

Kia SELTOS India Specifications

The 2019 Kia Seltos gets BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines at launch, including a 1.4-litre, T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines – branded ‘Smartstream’ – will get a 6-speed manual as standard, and automatic options will include a CVT for the petrol, a 6-speed torque converter for the diesel and a 7-speed DCT for the 1.4 turbo-petrol. The Kia Seltos gets three drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) and even terrain modes – Wet, Mud, Sand which one can choose from using a rotary knob positioned on the center console.

An interesting thing to note is the presence of ‘GT Line’ badging on the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol version of the Seltos. The Kia Seltos GT Line features red accents on the wheels, and contrast red stitching for an all-black interior. A flat-bottom steering wheel adds to its sporty nature, as do the gloss red inserts for the front and rear bumper. One more interesting detail about this car is that the platform of this car will be also used in the upcoming Hyundai Creta 7 seater.

2019 Kia SELTOS Safety

Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), TCS (Traction control system), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), BAS (Brake-Assist System), 360-degree camera and rear and front parking sensors.

Kia SELTOS India Competition

The Kia SELTOS will compete with its parent companies car, the Hyundai Creta. The Kia SELTOS will have its work cut out for itself when it comes next year. There will be a lot of pressure on this car as it will be their first product in the market. The rough road capability makes the Seltos a good option to choose against the more expensive Jeep Compass Trailhawk.
