MG eZS Price in India

There are rumors that the Chinese automaker will want to price it within Rs 10 lakhs, but those seem to be only rumors. Our understanding is this new SUV will be priced in the range of Rs 18 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs. That is when it will be a good price point for a vehicle like this. The MG brand will be importing this SUV, as a CBU, so the duty shall be very high. This electric SUV will go up against the Hyundai Kona.

MG might be testing out this vehicle as a part of the 2500 units that any automaker can get into India without any homologation. Still a tad early to speak on what will be the plan, but that seems to be the likely option.

MG eZS Design

Compared to the regular ZS, the electric version gets new badging, unique star rider grille with an integrated charging port, newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and Pimlico Blue colour scheme. The front of the car has nice bold looks. This is not as bold as the hector and retains some of the futuristic looks that the car should have for being electric. Starting off the grill size is smaller and is not as big as the Hector. The headlamps are places in flow with the grill. The fog lamps are placed below the headlamps. There is a big MG logo on the grill and it looks like the charging point will be located underneath it.

The front gets a faux skid plate design. Moving to the side the car has a curve on the top. There is a sloping roofline and the roof merges into the boot. The wheels have a nice design and they seem to be diamond cut. The sides do get a black cladding to increase in bulk. But to look modern and counterbalance the bulk a chrome strip is added too. The rear somehow resembles a lot to the Hyundai Tuscon. The boot lid is vertically hinged but the only downside is the high loading lip. This might make it difficult to load and unload stuff. Overall the car has an aggressive stance and it looks like an animal crouching to hunt its prey.

MG eZS Dimensions

The dimensions of the vehicle are out. These dimensions of the vehicle make it outright a Creta competition. If this vehicle is introduced with an internal combustion engine then it will be head to head competition for Hyundai Creta. This will be an SUV that might do well if it also gets the MG connected car system.

Dimensions
Length 4314 mm
Width 1809 mm
Height 1,620 mm

MG eZS Electric Power

The Chinese-owned British carmaker has not revealed the details for the powertrain yet. The MG eZS comes equipped with an electric motor mounted on the front axle and is good enough to deliver a maximum power output of 140bhp and 353 Nm of peak torque. The 44.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is water-cooled to enable a maximum driving range of 262 kilometers on a single charge. This is lesser than the 453 kilometers claimed by the ARAI report of the Hyundai Kona. The e-SUV will be built in India to keep the cost in check except for the powertrain which will be imported from SAIC China.

MG eZS Interior

We can expect a lot of features on the eZS. The first is the large eight-inch touchscreen system, 360 camera, voice command, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be offered as well. Multiple airbags (six mostly) and even ABS + EBD. There will be ESP, TC and even other features like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps to support as well. The eZS will also incorporate dual-zone climate control. There shall be no difference on the inside when compared to the regular petrol ZS. There shall be leather upholstery, sunroof and even rear AC vents.

In terms of rear-seat comfort, this SUV should offer good enough space and a large size boot as well. This SUV will be similar in size to the Creta in dimensions. As it will be electric, it shall see an increase in its pricing. The boot space will be about 400 litres. This is more than sufficient for a vehicle of this segment.

MG eZS Competition

MG eZS when it will arrive will face competition from the Hyundai Kona. The car will be priced around 20 to 25 lakhs which puts it in the same price bracket. This will be interesting to see which one will generate more sales as electric vehicles for that price range will attract only a niche customer set. Hyundai has already received 120 bookings for the Kona.
