Now, the Aprilia brand will be getting a new 200cc scooter to the Indian market.
Aprilia first got the 150cc version of the SR, followed by 125cc. Now, the company is looking at the Aprilia 200cc version also.
Diego Graffi, Managing Director and CEO, Piaggio Vehicles stated that the brands are working on getting new engines between 150-200cc for scooters. There has been a major growth for motorcycles in 200-300cc range.
The range of scooters Aprilia is working on, shall be Maxiscooter. These will be focused more towards performance than anything else.

The Aprilia brand did have a good start with its SR 150, however the SR 125 didn’t pull in that much sales. Something like a Maxiscooter is much needed for the Indian market.
Aprilia and Vespa fall under the same brand, however it is the Aprilia that is more sporty offering. The Vespa is more of retro and lifestyle. The Aprilia brand is looking at adding a lot more sporty and affordable two-wheelers. This is a better strategy that the brand has at the moment. Most of the other brands seem to be just getting their international products in India.
