Ford Mondeo

If you have been in this car or more importantly driven it. Chances are you will miss it. This was an extraordinary product for its time.

Ford used to import into India back in the days and this was an amazing package. It didn’t do that well, as it had high maintenance and limited availability of spare parts. An awesome luxurious sedan for its time. Ford was known to be an expensive brand in India for its service and this was one of the victims for its time. Today things have changed for Ford, and it locally manufactures so many new cars with affordable servicing.

Opel Vectra

Opel Vectra India

Another product that was a victim of high maintenance, poor resale and shortage of spare parts. Opel began its journey in India by offering outdated products like Astra and Corsa for India. Later on, it got the latest offering Vectra as an import. The brand already had a tarnished image in India and this was one fact why the product didn’t get its due sales numbers.

Fiat Palio

Fiat Palio India

If you have driven a Palio, the chances are you have already bought one. This is one awesome hatchback. Much much ahead of its time. The Palio with its 1.6-litre petrol and 1.9-litre diesel was a rocket. The two main reasons that let to its downfall was the spare parts cost, which was very high. Most of it was imported from Brazil. The other reason, was low mileage on the petrol engine. Both these reasons also led to the reduced resale value too.

Hyundai Terracan

Hyundai Terracan India

This was the real Hyundai SUV for India. High pricing, meant not so much sales. We think, if this product was localised, it could have done wonders in India. Good to drive, so silent and refined it was an amazing looker. This was the start of SUV era for Hyundai in India and see where has the company reached now.

Maruti Suzuki Kizashi

Suzuki Kizashi India

What a car to drive! What a shame when it came to sales.

A Maruti at a premium price point didn’t appeal to Indian customers. This led to the downfall of this sedan. It came in petrol at a price, similar to the diesel Volkswagen and Skodas. Back then, even Chevy Cruze – diesel rocket – was a hit. So, the Maruti Kizashi at that moment had no chance.
