Maruti Suzuki is working on updating its current 1.

2-litre petrol engine as the BS-VI norms come in closer.

The update will mean, it will get the Dualjet technology. The company is looking at offering this technology in all its vehicles. Even the 1.5-litre is most likely to get this update, as confirmed by one of our sources. India is leap-frogging from BS-IV to BS-VI norms. For the Indian car market, all the petrol and diesel engines will be getting an update.

At the moment, Suzuki has the Dualjet technology used on its European models. This will be implemented for India as well. Maruti Suzuki will offer this on the petrol engines like 1.

2-litre that will be offered from the Wagon R to the Baleno and the newly introduced 1.5-litre Ertiga and Ciaz engines. The 1.5-litre ones will continue with their Smart Hybrid technology and the higher end models will also get it on the 1.2-litre petrol too. This means Baleno and even the DZire are being considered for the same.

Suzuki had offered Dualjet in 2015 for the European market. There isn’t a major change in the power rating, but the power delivery is  a lot better on this. Due to this, it will have better performance and enhanced drivability. The company is already working on the updated version of the Alto and even new-generation cars like the Celerio. The 1.3-litre diesel engine is likely to be discontinued and it will be replaced by a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
