The Citroen brand has been a topic of discussion and debate for some time now. Group PSA took the right decision with going with the French automaker rather than Peugout which had left the country abruptly and in fact never repaid customers who had made down payments on cars. So the re-entry into India in the form of Citreon is the right move for Group PSA. Citreon is here in India with a collaboration with CK Birla. The company has been in India since a few years now and the Housar plant in Chennai has already begun to make engines for export.

So what is the Citroen Aircross? When is it launching here? Will this car make a dent in the Indian market? Scroll down and read the story below.

Citroen C5 Aircross Launch

The Citroen C5 Aircross will be the brand’s first car in India, it is a bold choice. The car is not an entry-level vehicle and will command a premium price. The company, however, is not launching the car now. The car will be brought to the masses next year. The brand will want to build a presence in the sub-continent as Kia and MG did in the beginning. The car will also be localized and the will not be sold as a CBU or CKD to us. Manufacturers have realized how key it is to have localization in India. The Citroen C5 Aircross will launch in India in the year 2020. The company is looking up to 98% localization. There is an also going to be 90% localization for the engine and transmission in India.

Citroen C5 Aircross Price in India

The price as I mentioned above will be a premium one. But the one thing that Citreon has to keep in mind is that the level of localization required to make the product a force to be reckoned in the market with is going to have to be very high. The car will need to be priced at the same level as the Jeep Compass and the lower than the Hyundai Tucson to make itself look like the viable and value-for-money alternative. The top-end of this car should be not more than Rs 20 lakhs according to us. If this pricing can be achieved, we think the company will be off to a good start.
