US Based UM Motorcycles have been creating quite the buzz on the inter-web with the promising products in their line-up.

Having partnered with erstwhile Lohia Auto for their Indian foray, they are expected to open their innings with a cruiser model – most likely, the Renegade.

It was exactly a year ago that UM Motorcycles had forged a 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) with Lohia Auto for the manufacturing of motorcycles with engine capacities varying from 300 to  500cc, in India. The Joint Venture has received an infusion of INR 100 crores for scaling up operations.

With an installed capacity to produce one lakh two-wheelers per annum, the Joint Venture is expected to commence operations from the Kashipur plant in Uttarakhand. The plant has an installed capacity of producing one lakh two-wheelers per annum. The company fledgling dealership is already up to five partners, with plans to ramp up to over 50 dealers in the Southern region.

As the excitement builds-up over the firm’s products, all eyes will be on UM Motorcycles at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016 in February where they are expected to announce their first ever product in India.
