The 2019 Mahindra Marazzo has been lighting the sales charts up for Mahindra in the past few months since it’s launch. The car has been seen as a major disrupter for the Maruti Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and the Honda BRV. The Marazzo offers a great combination of comfort, specs and features that make is a combination that makes it a value for money option. The AMT gearbox will be a great addition for the Marazzo. According to one publication, the AMT version will be launched next month. Now many of you must be thinking, did Mahindra not announce that it will bring the Marazzo with a torque converter unit? Yes, the speculation is that the car will be offered with an AMT gearbox right now because of the demand for an automatic transmission.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue in the car. Mahindra will use the Magnetti-Marelli AMT unit. The AMT will be a six-speed gearbox with a reverse gear. Mahindra will not do any changes to the engine or the car in any other way. The 1.5-litre mill is very refined. The 2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT will be a great upgrade for someone looking at a big MPV with convince of driving. This diesel engine will come with a six-speed AMT, which will churn about 121bhp of power and close to 300Nm of peak torque. There will not be much of a difference in the performance as the diesel manual also has the same engine.

Mahindra also has multiple petrol engine options for the Marazzo. At the moment, the company is waiting for the BS-VI norms. The petrol engine that will be used on this MUV will be BS-VI and it will come by the end of 2019. This is the expected time. This will be offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol mostly. At the moment, petrol MUV demand is fairly low, even for the Toyota Innova Crysta. Maruti Ertiga 2018 has a good enough pull for petrol engines and it is likely to dominate in this segment.

  • Any update on the automatic launch?

  • There is an AMT that is ready. The company has already paired it with XUV diesel, which will come out in June. There has been a delay in the launch. Nothing more than that.
